Talking A good Urologist

My fears have been relieved. I went to see my Urologist Monday so he could see how I was doing. I had been worried about him not being receptive to weekly injections and using HCG. After getting the deer in the headlights look from his nurse the last time I was in, I got apprehensive.

I couldn't believe how receptive he was to work with me. He said weekly injections would be fine. I think he was a little shocked how much knowledge I had on the subject when I started telling him about the advantages, etc, etc. (Thanks to all of you) Even had the nurse show me how to inject myself. ooouuch. need practice.

He wants me to wait on the HCG until after I see the Endo. Also wants me to keep him informed on what the Endo finds. Said he would like to keep treating me even after I go to the Endo.

He kinda made a reference to the fact that he hasn't seen very many people my age with this problem, and understands my concerns (the shrivled-up raisen affect and boobs) and is willing to work with me. I left his office feeling like I had a weight lifted from my shoulders.

Again thank all of you for your vast knowledge on TRT. When I see the Endo I'll update you all an my prognosis.

Dave

Yes me too the Endo well I can't say anything good about them but at least you can fall back on the Uro.

I agree with Phil on the Endo!

I surely hope that he (the Endo) doesn't end up being an obstruction to all of this.

If so, there is really no need to go through the endo, a GP (or PCP) can just as readily )legally and ehtically) provide TRT treatments....

I've heard that about Endo's more than once. I found one in the Portland area that is a DO. I'm hoping she will be more "open minded". The only thing I'm having her do is check for a possible tumor on my Pituitary. Unless she finds something significant, I won't be traveling 50 miles for treatment. One thing I've learned is your Dr. is there for you ! !

In the 21 yrs. that I have been on TRT I have seen 7 Endo's and every one of them told me to stop my T meds so the could retest me. I had all my tests with me and they did not care. All stopping my T meds every showed them was how sick they made me. The last Endo I seen told me this to stop my meds and he wanted me to stop the meds for the longest. I asked him how many men does he treat for low T and he told me I was his first. I just got up and left and he still sent me a bill. What ever you do don't buy into his crap don't stop your meds if the Endo try's this run.

I have already made up my mind that I'm not going to stop. I did that once for the Urologist just so he could see if I was still dropping. I went from 348ng/dl to 245ng/dl in less than a month. I would have felt better if I had been hit by a truck. Not to mention its not fair for my family to have to put up with me being a grump. My lovely wife has been very supportive, but she is so to say "in her prime" and I wouldn't put her through that again. I don't think its a good thing when my wife wants it more than I do ! ! !

The Endo is a "DO" so I'm hoping she will be a little easier to work with. I just want to make sure there's nothing up there that shouldn't be. I don't have any of the other common problems associated with a Pituitary tumor. Better safe than sorry!

Thanks for the advice Phil.

Excuse my ignorance, I don't live in the States. Can somebody please explain me the difference between a MD, DR, DO and other abbreviations for what I would call "a doctor"?

MD - Medical Doctor
DO - Doctor of Osteopathy

Osteopathy - "A system of medicine based on the theory that disturbances in the musculoskeletal system affect other bodily parts and cause many disorders that can be corrected by various manipulative techniques used in conjunction with conventional therapeutic procedures. Also called osteopathic medicine."

DR - I think that just stands for Doctor in general.

"A doctor of osteopathy will follow his or her name with the initials D.O., in much the same way as a Medical Doctor follows his or her name with the initials M.D. Medical students for both D.O. and M.D. programs follow essentially the same set of studies, some schools even offering both M.D. and D.O. degrees (e.g. Michigan State University), however, osteopathic students receive additional training in palpatory diagnosis and manipulative (manual) medicine. While the osteopathic community has a strong commitment to primary care, osteopathic physicians can be found in any of the subspecialties. From surgery and anesthesia to emergency and family practice, osteopathic physicians can be found practicing in all fields of medicine, and are fully-licensed physicians in all fifty of the United States."
