Default Adrenal Fatigue and Wilson's Glandular Extracts

Anyone here with Adrenal Fatigue tried any sources of adrenal glandular extracts out there?
Anyone have thoughts on the pros and cons? I'll be honest, it seems like a alot of bull to me and somehow can't get past the notion that Dr.Wilson's site is all about making money. But deep inside, im hoping there's something to his research after all.

Any of u guys have any success with it?

I did not do his but got what I felt was better. I chart my temps started 8 months ago before taking anything for my Adrenal problems.
http://www.drrind.com/tempgraph.asp#directions
Using this to check my Temps.
http://www.wilsonsthyroidsyndrome.co...hermometer.htm
Doing Glandular Extracts for 60 days did nothing to my chart my temps were low and swing up and down on my chart. Telling me my Adrenals were not working right so there was no way I could start to treat my Thyroid with Armour.

So I got some Isocort and stated low working my way up to 8 pills a day. My temps came up and my temps from day to day were still up and down but not as wide a swing. So I started on Armour 45 mgs a day. My temps went up from the low 97's to 98.2 to 98.6 so every 2 weeks when my temps fell down below 98 I added 15mg. of Armour.

I reached a point where on adding the Armour I started feeling hyper and after talking to Val at this site.
http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com...1198a0dbc102ab

I switched to HC started by dropping the 4 pills of Isocort and took in it's place 10 mgs. of HC. In less then 2 days my temps leveled off to a straight line at 98.6 for the first time in 8 months and I was able to up my does of Armour now doing 2.5 grains a day;

After reading Jefferies Book Safe Uses for Cortisol I felt very good about going on HC.
http://members.aol.com/jefferiesw/
This is a must read book if you have Adrenal Fatigue.
http://www.ccthomas.com/details.cfm?P_ISBN=039807500X

Now back to Glandular Extracts my wife has a bad thyroid and just last yr. switched to Armour from yr.'s of being on Synthroid and never feeling better. Her new Dr. told her she has adrenal fatigue do to the use of Synthroid for over that last 14 yrs.

He put her on DHEA, Fist Oil and this Glandular Supplement Para Pack.
http://www.traceelements.com/metabolic.html
Little by little she is getting better and able to not do 2 grains of Armour with out feeling hyper. So for her it's working but I don't feel taking this this long for this little success is worth it. She will never listen to me or do HC. Like most Dr.'s she asked her Dr. about doing HC like I am and he told her this stuff is no good all he knows is about the bad rap cortisol get yr.'s ago when they did big ass doses and were making people sicker. Most Dr.'s just don't know how good low doses of HC help people a dose of 20 to 30 mgs. a day will not shut you down.

Thanks Normandy,
Here is a copy of how I started treating my Adrenal Fatigue and Thyriod that I sent to a poster at the H2 group.

Bill sorry to hear you have this problem your lower then my first test I was 8. The ACTH Stim test will show if it's you Adrenals or your Pituitary not sending the message ACTH to your Adrenals to make Cortisol. Here is a link to Chris's Explaination of the ACTH test you need to read this I have seen posts where Dr.'s did it wrong. You need to be sure you understand about this test and how to read it.
http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com...opic.php?t=288.

Most people find out they have low cortisol because they have a low Thyroid Problem one needs cortisol to carry the thyroid hormone from the blood to the cells. If there cortisol is low do to Adrenal Fatigue there is not enough cortisol to do this and as they up there meds they start to feel hyper because the hormone is going to high in the blood and not being carried to the cells. One big cause of Adrenal Fatigue is a low Thyroid the Adrenals work over time to bring up levels of thyroid and become fatigued.

Now we are finding a lot of men with low T had Adrenal Fatigue do to the stress of low T be it from the fatigue of low T or the high Estradiol. But it's dam odd that as men hear about this and are not feeling 100% on TRT that after a blood test there cortisol levels are low.

The first thing I did was to try and figure out what stage of Adrenal Fatigue I was at and it looked like stage 3.
http://www.chronicfatigue.org/Selye%20large.html

Then I went to this site and printed out a chart for tracking your body's temps. I would take it under my arm before getting out of bed for 10 min.'s if it is under 97.8 you have a thyroid problem my temps that I did were for 4 morning and then I did an avg. it was 95.8.
http://www.drrind.com/tempgraph.asp#directions
Using this to take my temps it is also sold at Wall-Greens and Wal-mart.
http://www.wilsonsthyroidsyndrome.co...hermometer.htm

Then after I was up for 3 hrs I took my temp every 3 hrs 3 to 4 times a day and did an avg. My avg. was low between 96.8 to 97.6 and each day was up or down this is Adrenal Fatigue.

I then ordered a Saliva Test through this link.
http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/
From the Canary Club for about $140.00 this is the best way to test cortisol levels and DHEA.

Then I bought the book "Adrenal Fatigue The 21st. Century by Wilson. This book was a big help in understanding this problem but doing what he said to treat it with stuff like this did nothing to my temp chart. It has this in it Pituitary Extract (Freeze-Dried) 120 mg
Adrenal Cortex Extract 33 mg and cortisol but you have no idea how much.
http://www.myvitanet.com/adsolfrac50c.html
Also he said to do B Vit.s.
http://www.myvitanet.com/endfadaenbco.html
Vit. C
http://www.myvitanet.com/supbiocbuf36.html
Everyone with low Cortisol has low DHEA I take this 2 a day.
http://www.myvitanet.com/dhea260capph.html
I take 3 grams of a good brand of Fish OIL. I buy mine at Coscos (spelling) I get the one that is coated so you don't burp it up.
And there is Maca this helps keep your Adrenal hormones leveled. I was off this for 30 days and just went back on it I feel better on this. I do 1/2 tsp 2 x's a day. This is the best price and product on he web.
http://www.macaweb.com/view.cfm/hurl...aw-Maca-Powder

I dropped the Adrenal cortex
http://www.myvitanet.com/adsolfrac50c.html
It did nothing.

I got some Isocort and started on it it is made from sheep adrenal's and wow the first pill made me feel good you need to start this slow. I did 4 pills = 10mgs. of cortisol first thing in the morning with food and 2 pills = 5mgs. of cortisol at noon and dinner. This changed my chart my temps come up to 98.4 to 99 but still up and down if your avg. is up or down from day to day more then .2 tenths your cortisol is still to low. I followed this to get started.
http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com...o/how-to-treat
My Dr. would not give me Hydrocortisone said it's not safe to use. So I got this book by Dr. Jefferies "Safe Uses of Cortisol"
http://members.aol.com/jefferiesw/
http://www.ccthomas.com/details.cfm?P_ISBN=039807500X
Showed this to my Dr. and he blew it off and pissed me off.
I got up to 120mgs of Armour and could not do more my charting even showed my Adrenals were not right to go higher. So I switched to HC and stated with 10mgs. in the morning wow in less then a week my temps were a straight line across at 98.6 first time in 8 months of charting things were looking good and I was feeling better. So if you need to treat your Adrenals the best place for help is Val. at this link.
http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com...wforum.php?f=5
Most of the people posting there are Thyroid and Adrenal Fatigue but she helps for Adrenals only too. Do get your thyroid checked have the TSH, Free T4 and Free T3 checked and post them to here.

The best adrenal glandular extract is IsoCort. It has the best standardized (albeit not published) level of hydrocortisone. It is milder than the same mg of Hydrocortisone.

It is useful for treatment of Adrenal Fatigue/Adrenal Depletion (my new term for it, since most doctors cannot understand the term "fatigue" as it applies to the adrenal glands. I sometimes use the term "stress-induced adrenal insufficiency" though the term "adrenal insufficiency" has been monopolized to mean only Addison's disease.).

The other adrenal extracts, I've found, tend to be too mild. They are useful for some people - particularly those with milder versions of adrenal fatigue.

I don't like the Licorice that is often added to adrenal extract combination products because it often leads to sharp drops in cortisol levels, leading to a person crashing with hypoglycemia and dizziness when Licorice's effect wears off. Licorice also often causes nausea.

Welcome back marianco I guess you have been real busy it dam good to see you back. I wanted to ask you if you felt taking one's temp and charting it was of any help on seeing how treatment is going. I found that switching to HC 10 mgs in the morning and 5mgs. at noon and dinner time my charting leveled off to between 98.5 to 98.7 for the last 2 weeks. In the 8 months I have been doing this never seen this. I am up to 2.5 grains of Armour.

Phil, you're up to 30mg of hc now? I've dropped back down to 20mg and just today have started tracking my temps.

Did you use temp stability to work up to 30mg hc?

Default Re: Adrenal Fatigue and Wilson's Glandular Extracts

I started on the adrenal glandulars 3 days ago, along with the Adrenal C Formula and Panothenic Acid and Vitamin B12 some times because i am very low on that.

I gave it a lot of thought, and considering the fact that i tried one steroid before and it messed me up severely (finasteride) i hesitated to start on hydrocortisone right away.

Yet i bought some hydrocortisone and also ordered the safe uses of cortisol book, in case those glandulars dont help at all.

I guess i will go ahead and keep on them glandulars for 2-3 months at the most and see how it goes.

Yesterday i returned to the basketball court after 8 months. I managed to play for about 15-20 minutes, my breathing was ok, no bronchitis, but temperature was very low and i was not being able to sweat at all despite all the running around i did. I understand its a long process to get back in track.

Deep inside me i think that the worst period of adrenal fatigue has subsided, i dont have any pupil problems any longer, last time a had a serious hypoglycemia was about 3-4 weeks ago and i sort of feel excited sometimes during the day for things that all those 8 months were totally forbidden, like going out and having some sip with friends and a long conversation, all these things were very hard for me to do before, i felt so ill and weak to even listen to people talking.

I also dont spend most of my day in bed, rather walk around my house and play with my comp or read a book now and then. I also drive around more.

I dont feel the glandulars have done anything till now, i think the vitamins help more, but this improvement can also be due to the long rest in bed (8 months is not a small period of time)- sometime my body had to start showing some improvement. The only thing that worries me is whether i will be able to lift weights again or not, the one part of my body that has been seriously damaged all this time are my arm muscles, some of them have atrophied and i feel that my grasping and lifting strength has is very low. Maybe when my metabolism gets better and i feel my overall body strength to increase i will try doing minor weight lifting ( i expect that in 3-4 months at the soonest).

*Last time i tried lifting weights 3-4 months ago i ended up in hospital crying for help. I got shaky, trembling and so insomnic. I barely slept 2-3 hours a day and my sensitivity to sounds and frustration was so terrible. I didnt know of adrenal fatigue back then, thought it was all due to overtraining. Nor did my doctros know of anything related to that, they thought i was neurasthenic and kept me in neurology clinic with antidepressants and anholytics. Now i look back at this time and laugh some times.

I feel sorry for all these people that develop metabolic issues but dont know whats wrong with them and end up in neurology clinics. Its spectacular how adrenal fatigue or other metabolic/hormonal issues can manifest themselves as neurasthenia or depression and confuse the average doctor

I wish marianco was still posting about these things. I would like to know about 20MG HC suppressing the adrenals by 60% and anything above that more so. Why are there never any answers to this? I know this isn't shutting you down and you have no choice if you need it but still ...

Adrenals are a nightmare I do Isocort and have HC and Armour at the ready - I just wish I had my mojo back

Nutri-meds are the best glandulars to suppliment with I would imagine; there are about 40 other hormones your adrenals produce so this makes sense to support it all in general
