Default celiac disease and the brain

I am interested in learning more about the connection between celiac disease and the brain. I am waiting on test results, but think I had undiagnosed gluten problem for years and it has gotten so bad that it has affected my brain lately. One of the reasons probably has to due with the vitamin and minerals you need to support a healthy brain that I am lacking.

I am not sure of all of them or how much each one matters, but if you could help with with that information it would be great. This is a list that I have so far.

b-12
folate
b-6

Another reason for the brain issues could be coming from my anemia. I am taking iron pills, but think this is probably the only thing I can for this.

There are other factors I have been reading about such as glutmate playing a role. I just did a nutreval test and my glutamine/glutamate ratio was 37, which my doc thinks is very high. Do you know of any other important things I should consider between the celiac and the brain, that might help me.

Basically, I am trying to take whatever supplements I can and learn as much information I can about this subject because this could be a very serious situation for me. I am scheduled to see a neurologist soon to see check on a few things, but I think the issues I am having related to my brain are probably coming from the gluten problem.

I would appreciate any info you have on this subject. I was thinking of maybe getting a b-12 shot to see if that might help, or maybe mega doses of certain vitamins that I need for my brain to function properly. If you know anyone who knows alot about this issue, could you please point me in the right direction, or providing links to learn about this would be great as well.

And if I did see a specialist or doc on this subject, who would it be. I thought about a neurologist because they should know how various things affect the brain, but that could be hit or miss, and I thought about a nutritionist, but that could be hit or miss as well. Any thoughts?

Thank you.

I have personally worked over 24 hours past 2 days on his case and he has alot going on and methylcobalmin in his case would not be the appropriate chose, but rather hydroxcobamin. It took me tons of research to pull his case together. First time I met him through muscle testing I nailed it to the wall that was heavy metals, intestinal infection, and food intolerance with out any previous testing. I have been through his ordeal first hand which makes it almost second nature to get him back to balance. By understand the complete system of metabolic pathways I was able to piece together the puzzles from start to finish as well as come up way to circumvent them. By handling several cases which deal with mercury intoxication, dybiosis, malabsorption, upregulated trans sulferation pathways, altered brain structure one starts to see a specific pattern. I have a good feeling i got a good handle on this and feel confident on getting him back to balance. Many MD's do not believe in it but when I can accurate identify hidden thyroid imbalance with greater then 95% accuracy then it makes them reconsider. I have done it to numerous Md's and DO's, directors of major hospitals they are amazed at when combined irdology, finger assessment what accuracy rate one can get back by clincal testing.

Hopefully the tests you are refering to are the ones by enterolab. They are the gold stardard for detecting celiac or gluten sensitivity.

If you have gluten sensitity it is likely that you have brain issue since gluten causes your body to yper secrete zounlin which comprimises the blood brain barrier..

As far as supplements go, gluten sensitive people have difficulty assimilating many vitamins. Especially fat soluble ones. Google pyoluria try to find a good supplement that is a good place to start especially if you are having suspecting probelms with your brain.

His supplemental recommendation has all of these have been factor in already. Yes I did recommend that test to him, but I suggested going on a gluten free diet for a few weeks to see if there is any relief from hi symptoms then he will know. I also recommend a parasite and bacteria stool test as well that is affordable and will pin point his dysbiosis which is apparent evident. As you mentioned taking care of the intolerance will choke off the food supply for bacteria to feed on allowing his gut wall to start healing.

Restoreme is also one of our greatest success stories and he has helped to educate me as well in alot of different areas to further explore to broaden our horizon in new areas to look into. One thing about Dr Overbeck and I we do not know everything and if some one brings no topics to the table we willl be open to investigate them if they have sound scientific evidence.
