Default Is DIY the only way to go in the UK?

I'm beginning to think that the only way I'm going to find out whether or not TRT / E2 reduction is going to work is by acquiring what drugs I need, and administering myself. Obvioulsy I really don't want to do this.

Apart from feeling it would terribly cavalier, I would have no way of monitoring.

Can anyone else in the UK comment? What the f*** do I have to do to get through to a doctors' head that I have suffered desperately for 18 years, and feel like I have nothing to loose?

Would anyone in the US be able to help me out with acquiring a couple of things here in the UK?

Any USA voter reading this plea, please make sure to vote for the party that is least likely to introduce social medicine in the Old Grand USA.

Not sure if it would work in UK, here you can buy many scripts for a blood testing from

Hey Roro,

I was intending to reply to your private message today but got a little held up. Sorry to hear about your situation, i was in a near identical situation to yourself about eight week's ago but in alot of pain too (testicular tramua).

The first thing you need to know is that doctors (gp's) in the UK will not help you. Urologists are a bit "hit-and-miss" when it comes to testosterone and also don't offer much advice. It might be worth getting a urological checkup and testicular ultrasound to check for anything that might be adding to the problem (varircoceles, spermatic cord blockages, testicular damage, etc). It's important to find out why your testosterone is so low and what the underlying cause is. I believe alot has todo with lifestyle and diet. For example before i got the testicular injury (resulting in decreased testosterone levels) my diet wasn't packed with Vit E which helps strengthen the arterys, veins, etc. Maybe if my arterys were stronger than my testicle might have not been effected as much.

The best person to see is an anti-aging expert (someone who deals with testosterone issues). I fully recommend Dr Malcolm Carruthers at the Male Health practice. He helped me a great deal and got a FULL blood profile done (Total Testosterone, FAI, E2, SBHG, etc) and he also supplied me with the testosterone cream.

It might be better to talk on the phone with you Roro, drop me a pm with your mobile number and i can maybe help you further. Let me know how you get on!

Whether medicine is socialized or not has nothing to do with regressive policies regarding TRT. I am forced to self treat right here in the USA. Why? The DEA and The Steroid Control Act bear heavily on determining if I am hypogonadal or not. There have been many discussions on this forum about how the American government has an obsession with steroids. At least in most other parts of the world, an ampule of testosterone enanthate is not worth a felony narcotic conviction, a $1000 fine, and a year in prison.

I find it highly interesting that many people who use steroids for cosmetic and/or athletic reasons are outspoken advocates for the authoritarians now running this country. The authoritarians in charge will do everything to perpetuate the greedy self-serving health care system we have. They are also more than happy to enact prohibitions on whatever will not harm them personally. My elected representatives all got very nasty letters for voting to approve the Steroids Control Act. By no means am I an athlete or bodybuilder, I am so sick physically that getting through each day is a feat. But without TRT, I could be much worse.

What is required is a fundamental change in the diagnosis and management of endocrine problems. Doctors are too focused on what the reference range says, even though the reference range itself is not an accurate representation of health. Privatizing or socializing medicine will not affect physicians who practice medicine through lab results and ignore the physical symptoms of hormonal problems.

All male doctors need to be on a one year cycle of Proscar and Androcur. Maybe then, a hypogonadal man would be treated with the same care given to other patients.

I am in UK, its possible to get it on NHS, whats your blood results for T, mine was 12 and they said no T , when it dropped to 6 I got gel, I then asked for enantate and got it. In fact now bizarre as it seems they let me do pretty much what I want, the endo sees me every 6 months (useless)
and my GP just gives me repeat prescriptions no problem. they dont believe in testing estrogen,
maybe wise to get in touch with some of the Doctors on these forums and get the to advise you and persist with your GP or ask to see a endo, maybe I was lucky but you have to be persistant, which of course is ridiculous. Good luck

the UK is pretty bad

i have it as good as it gets. i have a wonderful, wonderful nhs gp and a pretty bloody good and well informed endo.

the nhs gp just wants me to get better, and understands that i do a lot of my own research and he trusts my judgement, and lets me choose what tests to do.

my endo is ok, fairly well informed and supportive.

despite their kindness, this is as good as it gets.

the products available are just do limited. its little stuff like hcg only comes in amps, and you can only get 5 gram packets of testogel and all kinds of stuff like that.

the products and knowledge base are light years behind the states, so know matter how kind or thoughtful the endo or gp is, there is only so much they can do
