Default Help with thyroid lab results!

Hi Guys, anyone have an opinion on these thyroid labs? I just got the test results today:

t3 uptake 43.18 ref 25.-35.
t4 total 4.53 ref 5.0-12.0
tsh, ultra .418 ref .460-4.98

Have been feeling kind of sluggish lately and requested some tests from my hrt doc--he was kind of baffled with the results but says everything is ok.-- I dont know? everything on my gen chemistry and complete blood count tests were normal. I'm 58 and on 1iu 5x week growth hormone and 10% testosterone gel compounded

He said you were ok? WTF? Your numbers are all outta whack and he didn't even do the good tests. You should ask him to request the lab to do a Free T3 and Free T4 at a bare minimum in addition to what you already had done. Some labs keep the blood for a while after so they may be able to do it without drawing more blood.

Your T4 is in the gutter. T4 gets converted to T3 which is what really does the work. So, it's possible that you don't have enough T3 but we'll never know unless he does some more labs. TSH is also in the gutter and without that you don't produce much T4. See the pattern? Get more labs done and I think he'll change his tune.

I've never seen TSH ultra before BUT if it's like the regular tsh, than you are at the bottom and it's where you WANT to be. The lower the TSH, the better(although too low and you could be hyperthyroid, which is equally as bad as hypo). I agree about running FT3 AND FT4 as these numbers matter the most. In addition, you might want to have your antibodies run as well to rule out something like Hashi's.
