Default Histamine levels and delayed ejaculation . . .

Did some surfing . . . again . . . trying to find a solution to my delayed ejaculation. Ran across a couple of threads on other forums that connected delayed ejaculation to low histamine levels. That's one I have never had a bloodtest for. It was suggested that L-Histidine - 500mg 2 or 3 times per day - would raise histamine levels. It is converted to histamine when combined with stomach acid??

Apparently men with premature ejaculation often have high histamine levels - those with delayed ejaculation have low levels. It is even reported to be helpful for women who have difficulty reaching orgasm.

"This is too easy" . . . I'm telling myself, but I purchased a bottle and used it for the past three weeks. It's amazing what we will do when we are desperate.

My ejaculation difficulties seem to be better . . . but is that due to L-Histidine or because I want it to happen? Not sure at this point.

I figure there is nothing much to lose. L-Histidine is inexpensive, readily available and not dangerous. The only downside I could find is that elevated histamine levels are common in people with scizophrenia and bi-polar disorders . . . but no indication that taking L-Histidine could raise levels high enough to be a problem.

Wondering if anyone out there has taken L-Histidine for delayed ejaculation. Wondering if there is any sound medical basis for it's use.

This is pretty interesting stuff. Thanks for the info. I find that if I have not had sex in a few days, I can orgasm a lot easier/more quickly. If I'm "doing it" a lot, it almost becomes impossible to orgasm. It's like I need several days of "time off." Strangely though, I still get hard - It's just tough to climax. Anyway, this was a good find, I think. I will try this over the course of the next couple of weeks and hopefully have something good to report.

I just bought some L-Histidine. My only concern is that I have bad allergies. But I will give it a try. Occassionally cant hurt.

I'm wondering if antihistamine interferes with climaxing. Logic would suggest that it may.

I've noticed that exact same phenomenon. Whether or not the desire for frequent sex is there (it almost never is), I find that I can't orgasm more than once a day at the absolute maximum, and usually I need at least one day 'off' in between, or preferably several days. I can still get hard, no problem, but I just can't finish.

I also noticed that while I was on SSRIs (it's been several years since I took that stuff, and I'm never touching it again), I couldn't get off for the life of me. I don't know if that had anything to do with histamine levels, though.. could have been any number of factors, ranging from lowered free testosterone levels to elevated prolactin, and whatever else nastiness SSRIs induce.

I don't have any allergies, but I suppose it might bad science to conclude that that means I have low histamine levels.

You read my mind about the allergies?
And even low dose SSRI's prevent it with me.

When I took a number of the SSRIs years ago, it was either orgasm and killer headache from straining to get there, or no orgasm; it was a pretty easy choice to remain chaste. It may be the case that some of the SSRIs act on histamine. It's a pretty common side effect.

SSRIs will increase synaptic (not systemic) serotonin which will delay orgasm. If you are now off SSRI then amino acids levels or neurotransmitters will probably show both low tyrosine/dopamine and low tryptophan/serotonin. Balance is the key.
