Default How long does it take SHBG to return to normal?

Hi,

I have heavily abused oral steroids in the past. That was more than a year ago now. All my other results are normal except my FT and SHBG. SHBG is 8.5nmol/l (13-71) and FT is 50.5pmol/l (45-149).

How long does it take for SHBG to return to normal levels?

Did you have blood taken prior to using steriods? Are you sure SHBG was normal beforehand?

As far as I know, SHBG doesn't budge, and low SHBG is the biggest bitch of a problem to solve with HRT. You simply can't raise your total T levels high enough without throwing your free T out of range and causing a hormonal distaster.

I think is good to have low SHBG so as to free more T.

zumper,

You are right. However, to clarify, you might say it is good to have low-midrange SHBG. Saying "low SHBG" is good implies that SHBG outside of the average range, or torwards the very bottom of that range is good -- which is absolutely not true.

"Low SHBG" is good in only the same way that "low Estrogen" is good. When we say "low Estrogen" is good, we mean low-midrange within the average blood assay range. Because, as many of our members will attest to, truely "low Estrogen" is extremely bad. In the same way, truly low SHBG is very bad.

The range for E2 is < 59 I believe and one needs to be between 10 to 30 best at 20 I have big problmes above 25 same with SHBG better in the low noraml range.

My SHBG is 9 and the normal range is 7 to 50. Trust me, it sucks!

take something to lower it .. when using the right combination of drugs during cycle, SHBG shouldn't be a problem after

Not sure what your trying to do but if it's getting your E2 down I did dam good using Indolplex/DIM if you try this don't take 2 tablets a day your can go down so fast you miss the Zone. The Zone being dam good hard morning wood when this happens your in the Zone. If it stops your going to low.

Also take some TMG with this it helps wash out the E's take at bedtime some of it turns into SAM -E and you will sleep better.
