Default latest results

hey guys,

so i previously posted my cortisol and dhea, which are at the bottom of the page.

Ive also included some other recent bloods ive had- my Dr did like 60 tests for all sorts of weird things, but ive only posted the ones which were a little off center.

firstly thyroid and glucose

tsh 1.09 miu/l (0.27-4.20)
free thyroxine 12.6 pmol/l (12-22)
free t3 *3.3 pmol/l (4.0-6.8)
fast acting blood glucose 4.6 mmol/l (3.9-5.8)- high considering i was in ketosis on atkins
fasting insluin 4 miu/l (ess than 10)

biochemistry
sodium 141mmol/l (135-145)
potatisum 5.1 mmol/l (3.5-5.1)
urea *8.5 mmol/l (1.7-8.3)
albumin *49 g/l 34-49
globulin 28 g/l (19-35)
phosphate *1.58 mmol/l (0.87-1.45)

finally all my cortisol and dhea stuff

cortisol (ranges in boundaries)

8.00am= 26.6 (12-33)
12.00= 2- (10-28)
1600= 14(6-11.8)
2400=7.6 (1-5)

dhea (the range for a guy 20-42 is listed as 6-29)

8am=16.9
12=4.5*
16=5.6*
2400=7.4

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
1. so obviously my thyroid is a little sluggish- but just how sluggish- worthy of full armour replacement- or should i be doing t3 only meds- or nothing at all. also my dr wants me to get reverse t3 done, as he reckons it ll be through the roof due to my low carb diet

2. cortisol is elevated and dhea is low. im doing 2x 25mg of dhea and 2x 25 of 7 keto a day to try and help this, and im also going to try isocort and stress reduction techniques.

3. insulin- my dr suggests that i come off the low carb eating, and try doing low gi eating instead, adding in things like pulses into my diet. he reckons that this will also lower my shbg, freeing up testosterone, as well as preventing stomach bloating. he also reckons a more varied diet may speed up my metabolism, though of course i have to keep a carefully watch over calories and sugar- its all about balance.

4. finally can someone comment on the biochemistry- what does the high urea and phosphate mean.

any help on the above points would be really appreciated

Did you get BUN and creatinine done? If so, what were they like? . The elevated uric acid and phosphate are probably nothing, because the elevation is slight, but they do raise the possibility of impaired renal function. Your potassium is also borderline.

You know what they say about the Atkins diet and the kidneys.

creatine was normal- middle of range- not sure what BUN is- what does it stand for

im sure my kidneys have taken a pounding over the years- at the moment though thyroid, adrenals and blood glucose are the first port of call

cheers for taking the time to read the post in depth though

Megazoid is an unknown quantity at this point

Your thyroxine levels are quite similar to mine, very low. Your T3 is low meaning you will have a slower metabolism and also gain weight more easy. If you get T3 up it will help reduce fat and help with your dry hair/hair loss problems.

Why not try levothyroxine (T4) only and see how you convert. Your cortisol look's pretty decent, allot better than mine for some reason. Look's like i have a serious case of adrenal fatigue.

Very much so, your T3 is low as is T4. They may not be chronically low but this could be your cause of hairloss and other thing's like weight gain...
