Default Low Testosterone - Arthritis / TestoGel Skin Irritation?

Ever since i started suffering the symptoms of low testosterone i started getting muscle ache and joint pain. I also noticed that knees and albows were somewhat becoming inflammed (looking red around the joints but only in the "skin" itself)). To be honest it was only really the mild pain and "clicking" that was bad before the TRT and something inside me think's that some skin irritation has happened. With that said i also having some bad upper back pain (around the shoulders) and alot of my bones are now "clicking" alot more than usual. My finger's hurt at times too but this could be low t and muscle pain as well.

I can post up some pictures tomorrow and maybe someone can offer more advice.

I have started on the testogel (androgel) but only doing 50mg a day. I don't have alot of pain in the joints but do get some shooting pains every once in a while. The joints should not be this red though and i am starting to think arthritis is setting in or infact maybe just an allergic reaction to TestoGel (AndroGel).

I have also noticed some inflammation on my right hip as well (strangly i think i might have put some testogel on here by accident this morning and the redness appeared tonight!).

I have also noticed some very mild acne on my back (where i apply the gel) and also seem to be itching my whole body alot more. Not sure if this is because of new hair growth (i have never been that hairy and now i am getting some more) or because of the testogel itself causing skin irritation/itching. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I seem to have what look's like irritation around the joints (elbows/knees) but what could also be an allergic reaction to the testogel.

Would the same thing happen if i switched to Testim Gel? Which is best?

The strange thing is when i stretch my skin around the area near the joint, the redness is only on the skin itself (i think) which might indicate this is caused by the testogel.

How can i figure this out best? I dont want to stop my system from getting the much needed T. The strange thing is everything else seem's to be falling into place and my libido and ED were working out well too. I did notice a decreased sensation in my penis (foreskin) and what looked like some inflammation around the opening of the foreskin (never had this before). My scrotum also felt more itchy than normal and red too (i didn't apply the gel here).

Anyone got any clues?

Well, I'm not surprised that you're getting a lot of muscle & joint pains since you have low testosterone. Testosterone has anti-inflammatory actions & once you get your levels up there again, these body aches should disappear. I can't answer your query on the allergic reaction to testogel, sorry.

We have a guy at the H2 group that had a problem with a bad rash using gels he was on it for a time and the longer he did it the worse he got. He then switched to Testim and this helped for a short time. He had to stop the gels and do shots. But he did not have joint and muscle pain.

The joint and muscle pain I had before TRT was low levels of Testosterone the first treatment I went on 23 yrs. ago was 400mg shots every 4 weeks. My pain got better after the shot but by the next one it came back. When I went on Gels over time the pain got bad real bad. We did not relate it to the gels figured it was my age and arthritis. I was on gels a long time and the first of last yr. I posted this and a lot of guys got back to me at the H2 group and told me it was the gels that they had the same problem and they stopped the gels and went to shot of T everyweek and there pain in a short time went away. I did the same thing started on 100mgs of Depo T shots every week hell the first shot gave me relief. My back was so bad we had an MRI on it and nothing. Today I don't have any pain.

I am on day five right now and starting to feel a little better. The muscle pains seem to have went away somewhat and i went a long walk today and felt pretty good. The back pain has died down a fair bit and it's not bothering me as much. I still feel somewhat tired and i am still having ED (problems getting/maintaining an erection). I guess i will need to wait at least 2/3 weeks before anything noticable will take place in this regard.

I have noticed some body changes though. After doing a few hours of walking today my leg muscles feel alot tighter and toned than before. My member has also grown a bit in girth (very strange).

I am on 50mg a day TestoGel (AndroGel) but i am thinking about trying Testim instead to see if this improves matters and stops this "rash" and itching i am getting. I have to call back the Dr on friday to followup. I have heard that Testim gives some guy's a much higher serum level than androgel in most cases, i would be intrested in hearing more about this and might consider changing over to see if i notice any improvements.

I feel Testim is much better and my wife likes the smell. Here is a study.

I use Andromen a hospital quality testosterone cream that comes from Australia and is available through Testosterone Cream Progesterone Hormone Testosterone Creams

It is a non-irritant (unlike Androgel which contains alcohol which causes the irritation) and is applied to the scrotum which make adsorption of the testosterone very easy and rapid.

Because of the ease with which the scotum absorbs the testosterone there is far less wastage than in creams applied anywhere else. Because of that the amount that needs to be applied is much lower - therefore less cost.

My daily dose (only need one a day) uses up 1 tube every 2 months and costs $100 for the 2 months.
