In september 2008 I was dead lifting I was not going to heavy I was doing 5 sets I normaly go up to 405lbs for my last 2 sets of 8. I was on my 3rd set at 385 for 10 and on my 6th pull I hurt my back. I dropped the bar and dropped to my knees. Ever since I have had sever pain in my lower back with alot of preasure. I thought I just pulled or strained a muscle. It seems to be getting much worse to the point where I do not sleep at night. The past week has been hell with sleep I toss and turn and am in so much pain I can not fall asleep. Last night I layed in bed having to stand up every 10-15minutes to try and relive some pain I did not sleep at all. I called my doctor and cant be seen untill next week. I have taken sleeping pills (over the counter) and even that dosent help me sleep. I have tryed everything I could think of and read about online. Nothing is working. The pain will not go away its with me all day and gets worse as the day goes on.
Anyone have any ideas what it might be? The pain starts in my lower back and ends around the top of my ass. It feels like a ton of preasure pushing out from my spine. When I move a certin way it shoots down my legs to my knees. The only thing that helps the pain stop is when i have my wife sit on my lower back. Any help or ideas would be great!

Why don't you shoot over to a chiropractor and see if they can relieve the pressure for you. When my back hurts really bad sometimes that is the only thing that will help. I then ice it when I get home and repeat as necessary.

I should have noted that in my 1st post. I went to the chiropractor and it did not help at all other then for the 15 or 20 mins he was working on me. As soon as he stops or my wife stops the pain is here again.

You have to go to the right chiropractor.
Like doctors, they are not the same.
Pain shooting down to kneess, most likely sciatica.
You may want to hang for few minutes from a bar, trying to relax middle of your body.
Wiggle your lover body (withouth tensing), sometimes you may feel a click.
Often that click is what you need to get the bones back in the correct alingment.
For more comfortable hanging you may find hyperxtention machine similar to this:

Thanks for the input. I the link you sent me got me thinking. My parents have a really good Inversion Table. I am going to stop at there house and hang on that for awhile tonight and see if it helps at all. I just wish I knew what was causing the pain. I know I did not pull or strain a muscle it has to be somthing else in my back. I just hope the doctor can find out soon and get me fixed I cant take not sleeping anymore its really starting to kick my ass.
Thanks

I agree, you have most likely inflamed something that rests against your sciatic nerve; possibly a herniateddisk. Hanging from a bar or on an inversion table can allow the spine to realign, relieving the pressure on the sciatic nerve.
Keep in mind that your back muscles are likely very tight and may have to be massaged before and after trying these methods. In other words, the muscle tightness may not allow the spine to fall back into realignment.
Thank you guys, I am going to have my wife rub my back really good and try to losen me up as much as she can then im going try the Inverson table and hope that helps and then I have my doctors app. next week. Thanks again

Try stretching your hammies really well too. That can help butt and lower back pain.
Sorry about the nasty back pain . . . I know exactly what you're talking about!
My wife had a friend with an inversion table that she wasn't using and asked if I wanted to try it. Of course, I said yes! When I went to actually use it, however, this is what happened. No one was at home - it seemed like a good idea - I adjusted the thing, locked myself in and leaned back . . . I guess the adjustment was the problem . . . I plummeted back at lightening speed and the mechanism locked at the bottom. I went down like a ton of bricks! Here I was, upside down, locked in, nobody home to help. I calmed myself down and finally figured out how I was going to escape this machine of torture. When I finally managed to free the lock system (it was probably just a couple of minutes . . . but seemed like a lot longer), I uprighted myself and made my escape. Standing next to the inversion table a moment later, I suddenly realized that 20 years of excruciating back pain was gone . . . really gone. After learning a little more about height and weight adjustments, I used that thing daily for the next several years. It was a godsend.
Don't have the inversion table anymore - we moved and felt we should return it to its rightful owner - but now I use hanging straps, or a hanging bar at the gym. Found that I can also use the roman chair machine. Like one of the other contributors mentioned, I simply hang and relax everything from the chest down. The relief is amazing.
If you are on TRT and using large amounts of supplemental zinc (ie 50mg/day) - you could have a copper deficiency. Copper deficiency can lead to lower back pain as it can adversely affect connective tissue. Also, it may be best to not take copper at the same time you take the zinc. Zinc can interfere with its absorption.
