Default Muscle Tears - Too Easy!

I am 37 years old, and I feel like 50% of the time I try to play a fast paced sport, I pull a muscle. I was playing tennis yesterday and sprinted for a drop shot and pulled my hamstring!

I have been on TRT for almost a year now and this is the only thing it hasn't solved. I spent years of doing NO activity, and then many years of slow long distance work. However, I see other people my age fatter and more out of shape than me that don't pull muscles. Maybe I go too hard?

My question is could this be a imbalance of electrolytes, etc. OR is this something as simple as I need to slowly build back fast twitch muscle over a period of a year? Btw, I warmed up and streched a lot yesterday beforehand.

Frustrated....

hard to say...warm ups and stretching is key..if you did that properly if could be due to the fact that what you tore or hurt was a muscle that does not get any workout/training or stretching..

working out fast and slow twitch fibers is tricky...keep stretching and take it easy then little by little you will be back to normal

I can tell you I have stats close to yours and have soem similar problems. I was actually running wind sprints a couple of weeks ago. I have not done these in years. I was actually faster than when I was young, I am assuming do to new upper body weight. It was like I could dig in a actually go faster and faster!! Needless to say on the third one I pulled up gimp with a hammy. Thank god it was just an outter perhipial hamstring and not one of the big boys.... I have simply found that I cant push myself if I have not been training that particular area as the juice strength inclines to give unusual ability to overtrain. Go figure. Never thought I'd say those words.

"I spent years of doing NO activity, and then many years of slow long distance work."
know "fast paced sport, I pull a muscle"

Most likely it is just something your body is not used to. You probably just need to increase at a slower level and include speed work on a consistent basis. You cannot expect to jump into a fast paced sport every once and a while without training hard in between, that is how a lot of weekend warriors injure themselves. Luckily, the TRT will help with the recovery.
