New Labs - LOL/WTF

I thought someone might be amused at the labs I got back from Quest after 2 weeks on 5g Tesim/day because I'm not!

Blood work 02/02/2006. Lab taken at 4:30pm, gel applied 7am.

Testosterone Total 5175 250-1100
Testosterone Free 1234.8 35.0-155.0
Testosterone %Free 2.39 1.0-3.1


Albumin 5.2 HIGH 3.2-5.1
AST 44 3-50
ALT 89 HIGH 3-60

I left out the other CMP stuff. Also I asked for Estradiol (Extraction Method) which was not done.

I think I remember someone else having problems with a lab simply not running a test - I hope this is not common.

I was also wondering about ALT. This is the second time they have been elevated. The last result from Dec 15 was 79 on the same scale although that time I did work out the day before.

Obvioulsy my doc is going to phone the lab, I'm also going to ask him about the ALT.

Since then I started on shots and can definitely feel the difference - I guess I should do a quick bulk before I have to reduce my dose to 5mg Tcype/week

Like we don't have enough to deal with without the labs fucking things up.

Yes WTF did you do put on the gel and then get the test. I have had this happen and my Dr. told me not to do this if you did not do this then the lab screwed up. I have been getting blood work done for the last 22 yrs and you would not believe the shit they mess up. Also a flag should have went up when the lab saw this but no in stead of redoing it they send it on I would not pay them for this if you did not put on the gel first.

Maybe they figure you are going to take labs when you are on a cycle or something, who knows. Maybe they noted FSH. and LH as near zero, asked someone who said - oh, they are probably on a seroid cycle. I guess I wouldn't necessarily believe the E2 anyway, even if I did get it.

Dam! You got some good sh!t. You should be able to bench press the entire gym. One thousand lbs. should be nonthing. No, seriously, go back and make them do it correctly. Don't eat or dirink anything but black coffee and water.
No, pills, injections, creams, ect. Hormones stay in your system longer than you think. The half-live for Growth Hormones is 20 to 30 minutes. I took a blood test 3 days later expecting to see low levels. WRONG they were at the top of the range.

Did you mistakenly put the gel on the skin where the drew the blood. This wouldn't be uncommon results if that were the case.

No the instructions, my doc, SWALES instructions etc said to put it on shoulders upper arms and NO WHERE NEAR FOREARMS or abdomen. I probably wiped off excess onto my sides. I just thought though - I did recently have surgery on one shoulder (28 Dec) - but it was only 3 small holes and they are quite well healed.

Would I not notice somehting dramatic if my levels were really that high? I definitely felt better than before TRT, but nothing as dramatic as 100mg Tcype. If they were trully that high it would be nice to know - I wouldn't go anywhere near gels again, whatever the reason.

Now I think I was a bit dehydrated though because the vein collapsed a bit while drawing blood and the Nurse asked me about it. Actually I had drunk ½ liter about 1h before, but I’d been rushing around a bit more than normal (actually trying to get my Tcyp +HCG prescription filled). I had been drinking water -perhaps not quite as much as usual though. My Albumen was high – consistent with dehydration – but I guess also consistent with huge T-levels.

I wouldn’t have thought being slightly dehydrated would have made that much difference though.

I must admit they did take 3 goes at jabbing me and suspecting a lack of ability or concentration I specifically mentioned that I did not want these labs to get messed up. I wonder if they used the correct tubes, if that is possible to mess up.

Ironically I had put down both ‘Total Testosterone’ and “Total and Free Testosterone’ which would have gone to separate labs, but they didn’t do the ‘Total Testosterone’ because of the duplication.

Would be nice, but I had these done just before switching from gels to shots - would have been nice to know what my levels were on 5g Testim, both as a correlation with how I felt, and to know what T and E was doing in case I want to or have to go back to gels.

Of course when you get that feeling of 'something is getting screwed up' and specifically tell the nurses that this test cannont really be redone, please use the correct test tubes, etc... - you know something is going to go wrong.

I know it's not exactly the biggest deal on the planet - just another minor frustration.
