Default is it possible my low carb diet has led to high cortisol

my cortisol level is 600, which seems a little high. is it possible though, that my high protein, low carb diet is responsible for this elevated cortisol, and in turn some of my hairloss probs

cheers

Is that 24-hour or instantaneous? What is the lab range? Hard to interpret without the range.

it was from a single blood test taken at 9 30 am and was supposedly within range, but very high.

I just took a 24 hour urine test for cortisol and the results came back high, so they want me to:
1. take another 24 hour test.
2. take some drug at 11 PM at night to shut something off and take a blood test in the AM to test something.

marianco was saying guys should be high out of range for morning cortisol, but if you think its high and you want to lower it, take zinc or even better, ZMA when you wake up.

In the US a blood cortisol test has a range for morning of 7.0 - 25 ug/dl and Dr. Jefferies feels the labs range is low he looks for a good result of 15-25 the higher in the range the better. He questions 15 so you in good shape. You need to understand mose of the samples for the range were taken form sick people.

I was reading a book by Barry Sears and he said that low carb or the Atkins type diets do raise cortisol, this is another reason why fat loss stalls.

I also think that thyroid output lowers on low carb diets.
