I used tribulus terrestris (T3) years ago and it had a life changing effect on me. libido was better then on any trt or past cycles I've ever taken. Depression went away as well as fatigue. I discontinued after almost 2 months because of people saying it will supress your t levels. Since i've alway had a weak libido, I did want to risk itand stopped. Now I'm thinking of going back on it. I cant seem to find any research that indicates that it will supress my nuts after using it for a while. The product was called T3 by next care with tribulas in it. Can anyone share there experiences on tribulas, and if it suppressed your t levels. My libido is in the grave yard right now and this supplement worked before. will it suppress my libido later in a couple of months? |

Tribulis has been proven to raise LH and Testosterone levels. The effect seems to subside with continued use either from downregulation or increased aromatization. The brand used also is important as some variants of T. terestis are not effective. The good ones come from Hungary. I would recommend using it in a cycle, two to three weeks on and one off to reduce chances that it would become ineffective.

Naturdoc -- let me see what i can dig up. Probably won't get to it until the weekend. I did try it several years ago and liked it (was stacked with Trib but the combo did work better than with Trib alone on other occasions). Albeit anecdotal, the feedback re: fenugreek for purposes of recovery has been excellent. e.g. -- Bulk Nutrition - Now Foods Fenugreek at discount prices! The only reason I stopped trib was because I alway read on this forum that it will suppress your testosterone. I dont know if thats true. I haven't had any labs done since I came off of trt. The trib product I used was called t3 by NX labs, and it has dim in it. When I was on trt then I always battled with E2 problems. I came off in october -november and still have not recovered at all. I took clomid and nolvedex but have been off of them for at almost 2 full months. |

tribulus does not raise testosterone, nor does it stimulate LH release. DIM is an antiandrogen and aromatase inducer (see #7 and #8) Thoughts on I3C/DIM - AFboard |

I'll share my tribulus experience. I started using the Biotest brand in October of 2006 2 pills twice a day b/c of low libido, headaches, trouble sleeping. I read a little and found I had classic low T symptoms. Total testosterone at the time was 550 (that's all I checked b/c I didn't know any better), so I figured it couldn't be a testosterone issue. Started the tribulus and it did the following: great libido, no trouble sleeping, better effort in the gym, made important decisions more easily (but sometimes almost impulsively), got rid of brain fog. It had no effect on body composition (based on dexa scan), lean gains, or strength gains. I initially did the 5 days on, 2 days off with 2 week break after each 6 wks on. As time went by, I increasingly felt like crap the 2 weeks off and cut out the 2 weeks off. Effects of tribulus gradually diminished to where I eventually had very little libido even during the 5 days on. At various times, I tried maca and tongkat ali which had no effect. Another disturbing thing which I cannot explain is that I had trouble feeling emotionally connected with people, including wife, best friends, etc. The 2 days off were awful, and I eventually started taking tribulus every day around Feb of this year. I've never been addicted to anything in my life before this. It became apparent to me that this was not a long term solution. I quit taking it on March 8 (last month). I have posted lab work in another thread (high SHBG, low free test, low estradiol). Interpret all that lab work as you will. The first lab work is 2 days after stopping tribulus. Two days after stopping, I developed extreme brain fog, short temper, serious trouble functioning at work, never laughed. I can't tell you how tribulus works. I have a theory with absolutely no evidence to back it up. I think it binds to SHBG, increasing amount of free T. I have not seen a study that measures free T. Studies are inconsistent with respect to total T. The peak action for me occured 4 hours after I took it, and returned to baseline after about 7 hours. It's been a month now, and I feel exactly like I did before I started the tribulus. |
