problem with Androgel?

Hello,

My husand has been on 5 mg. of Androgel for about 6t mos. and he lkes how he feels on it. Recently he has been unable to ejaculate even though he has no problem with erections. Is this a common problem with Androgel use over time?

I have suggested HCG shots and he said he'll look into it if this continues. He has some DIM and took it, but it didn't help. No problem with erecttions, just ejaculation. This ould become very frustrating I'm sure.

Hello lady!

There could be a couple reasons for this.

One that automactically pops in my head is that his testicals have probably shrunk up and died because he is on exogenous T without hcG. This will affect sperm volume/quality

BUT, another more serious issue that Im thinking of is prostate related. It is common, especially in older men, for the prostate to swell, especially in liu of increased DHT levels. What happens is that with a swollen prostate, ejaculation is difficult. How is his urine stream...does he wake up at night to pee alot? Is his urine stream weak?

I would suggest you have him see a urologist about this.

What area are you in? I would suggest you specifically look for a younger male MD

I had this problem on TRT after about 10 yrs on it little by little it got harder to reach an orgasm having sex with my wife it got to the point we have to do it manually to reach it. I later found out it was my Estradiol levels were Very High. I went on Arimidex .5mgs to bring it down testing every 4 weeks at the time things got worse I had ED also. Just getting this down my ED was gone and it was less of a problem reaching an orgasm having sex. It took some time to get back to normal. And like PC said it was my prostate going down keep my Estradiol down that allowed my prostate to go back down in size. You see high levels of Estradiol play hell on a mans prostate.

Great reply Phil and you are absolutely correct

I think it could be shrunken testicals in combination with rising DHT levels from the gel, which is common, as well as increased estrogen because he is not using an estrogen blocker!

However, let us not take any chances here - I would suggest a full exam from a qualified, young urologist. He can manually investigate what is going on, check prostate for size, etc. Make sure everything physically is ok.

This is a great example of how just slapping on T will only fix part of the problem!

Im sure with a little fine tuning he will be good to go.

I suggest that maybe you have your husband switch to a more accomplished HRT Dr such as allthingsmale.com

You have got good answers from Phil and Plymouth.

Your husband is on Androgel, usually, at least for me that did not changed my E2.

Howewer erections and ejaculations are strongly tied with Estrodial levels.

I use FreeE2 test as a guide rather than usual E2(ultrasensitive)

that was after I read Quest had to say about FreeE2.
