Megazoid is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Reverse T3?

I noticed another poster who tried both armour/levothyroxine had "high" reverse t3. The reason i am enquiring about this is because i have varicocele like this other poster as my main reason for hormonal troubles.

What is reverse T3 exactlly and what causes it?

Zinc defiecincy or factors that affect zinc defiency or absorption, starvation, low caloire dieting , adrenal fatigue.
Its a metabolic blocker for t3 at the receptor sites. T3 gas pedal rt3 break. Alot of irish, angelo saxon and amercian indicans have the gen for it to be triggered under duraiton of stressfull events.

My doc thinks I have reverse t3 we're waiting on labs...

I went on armour and felt great for a few weeks then utter shit.

Reverse T3 is when your body converts t4 to t3 but it's shape is the mirror image of what it should be. It's a triangle going backwards so it cant get into the receptor hole, so u have all this reverse t3 unabsorbed floating around. Thats the general gist of it tho, i'm no expert.

Do a google on "wilson's t3" and you'll see a site. His treatment is to take T3 only medication. By doing this your body will stop producing T4 and therefore there will be nothing to convert to reverse t3 and u can rid your body of it. Then you can ween off T3 meds and your body can hopefully start producing t4 again and not have it turn into reverse t3.

Apparently zinc defficiency and low testosterone can make reverse t3 worse.

I've tried treating testosterone alone - didn't work.
Tried treating with Armour alone - worked then didn't work.
Will now try T3 alone.
If it doesn't work, I think I'll have to try treating thyroid and testosterone all at the same time, and then maybe come off testosterone later if it works and see if i can produce enough myself.

Yeah, I'm concerned about Reverse T3 also. I'm currently up to 4.5 grains of Armour - last blood tests taken at 3.5 grains - showed my Free T3, Free T4 and total T4 lower than before I began. And only Total T3 quite alot higher. From what I've read the blood test for Total T3 includes Reverse T3, as it can't determine a difference (but I'm not 100% sure on this). Unfortunately the Reverse T3 blood test is not available here, so I can't test it till I travel next.

It would make sense that some people who've got Adrenal Fatiugue could have it, as they would have had periods of high stress/cortisol in the past & this can be a trigger for it.

Here's a few good links on it;

"As Reverse T3 is a mirror image of T3 and thus fits into the receptor upside down thus preventing the active T3 binding to the receptor and activating the appropriate thyroid response"

The last link tells the story on RT3 if your suffering from Adrenal Fatiuge and are doing to much HC it blocks the T4 to T3 and makes RT3 so make sure you don't do more then 25 mgs a day. Also over doing your workouts makes to much cortisol and this blocks T4 to T3 and makes Rt3 plus like the link says stress and all the crap we have in life ends up in RT3.
