Default saliva tests...finally!

All,

Some of you suggested that I do a 4 x cortisol saliva tests based on some symptoms of adrenal fatigue, long-term use of adderall, and low blood serum dhea-s. The results came out as I might expect. I have no stress or anxiety from the time I wake up to about 10:30am. Here are my cortisol results and reference ranges. Any help would be appreciated (I just purchased the book "Adrenal Fatigue"):

7am Cortisol = 7.5ng/ml (3.7-9.5)
Noon Cortisol = 1.2ng/ml (1.2-3.0)
6pm Cortisol = 0.6ng/ml (0.6-1.9)
10pm Cortisol = 0.3 (0.4-1.0)

Everything is low except for when I wake up. I know TRT can decrease ACTH, but I also know how TRT can decrease serotonin indirectly effecting perceived stress and therefore possiblyincreasing ACTH (per Marianco).

The saliva kit also included the following other assays and results:

Estradiol = 1.6pg/ml (0.5-2.2) ** probably not useful as saliva
Progesterone = 19pg/ml (12-100)
Testosterone = 151pg/ml (58-120)
DHEA-S = 6.1 (6-18)

Cortisol was the test I was so curious about because I have had trouble with stress for about 10 years but also live the life of a intense financial executive. I guess the idea of taking HC scares me so I am curious to hear what you guys think.

Last thing was that I am perplexed about a statement ZRT labs made about my estradiol. They said my symptoms (you have the option of rating your symptoms) reflect both low and high estradiol. The statement that I am confused about....

"This suggests that target tissue aromatase levels in adipose tissue are high, resulting in direct tissue conversion of adrogens to estrogens without excessive levels of estrogens accumulating in the peripheral circulation."

Thanks everyone

I am new to the site and not knowledgeable enough to answer your questions but would like to pick your brain. You say your anxiety is worse in the evening, corresponding with your low cortisol...is that correct? I also have been tested as having depressed dhea (on saliva test at least) but my anxiety is worse first thing in the morning but winds down as the day goes on. At night, it is very dull compared to the a.m. I am going to do the same 4x cortisol. Did you go online somewhere to get the labs done? How much did it cost? Thanks.

Yes. I don't know if it completely correlates to my cortisol levels, but yes, I am more anxious as the day goes on.

I bought a saliva kit online through canaryclub.org. It's a ZRT Lab kit. I think it was about $150.

In this they tell you how to start on Isocort or HC you just can't jump on a full dose you need to work your way up. The site is great for help with this.

PMG,

As I am digesting all this information, would you consider testing ACTH before trying Isocort? Per Marianco, being on TRT will lower ACTH release.

If your on TRT and don't know why an ACTH stim. test will show if your Primary or Secondary not that the treatment is any diff. It's good to know if you have a pituitary problem and if your ACTH test show you secondary then it's your pituitary.
This link by Chris is great read about this test.
