Hey, do any of you hypogonadal guys have any personal experience with using the gel (Androgel, Testim, etc.) and small amounts of HCG (like 250 IU twice a week or every third day)? I'm currently using only Testim (which I like), but was finding that the higher dose (10g/day) was making my hair thin. I cut back to the lower dose (5g/day), and I still feel pretty good; my hair stopped thinning, but I have to admit, I felt better on the higher dose. My total T right now is 661, which I'm satisfied (not overjoyed) with. (It was 1100 on the higher dose.) I have heard that hair thinning is not as much of an issue with the gel/HCG combined therapy. Also, I've read that people seem to get more of that "feeling of well-being" with the combined therapy. Is there anyone out there who can verify all of this (from personal experience). Thanks!

All I can tell you is your DHT levels may be to high on the gels and this is why the hair problem. I never did Testim and HCG both but I can tell you I feel much better doing shots and HCG. I do a 40mgs shot every 3 days and 500 IU's of HCG the 2 days in between and I feel dam good.

Did you draw blood before or after applying AG? What time did you draw blood? If you drew blood after applying AG, how many hours after did you draw blood? What is your labs range for Total T?
I am on 10% T Gel and 125ius HCG everyday. I can tell you that it does in fact give me a better "sense of well being" than just the T Gel or HCG alone. I did HCG alone for months and adding the Tgel made it that much better. We are getting ready to have another child (a boy) in 3 weeks so I think the doc is going to switch me to T shots. He nor I want the problem of the T gel getting on the baby. I think I am going to go to a protocol much like Phil says in a previous post. thanks, Hank
Thanks for the reply. I'm encouraged by what you said. (Unfortunately, my endocrinologist is not.) I'm thinking of doing the virtual office vist thing with Dr. Crisler. It seems like you're taking pretty high amounts of HCG. What is your total T? Have you had it tested lately?
I can't get my freakin' doctor to do free T! He says the testing methods are too unreliable. So my response was, "Well what if my SHBG is high?" His response was, "Generally, that's only going to be the case if your E2 is high. My E2 is 31, which I believe is fine. Anyway, this guy is a typical endo - Lots of impressive degrees and very smart but has a very limited understanding of these types of things. Ugh!
It's difficult to know what your situation is if this guy won't do the necessary tests. 600 is okay for total T depending on what your Free T is. You might want to get yourself tuned up through Dr. Crisler as you mentioned to avoid further inconvenience.
