I go in for an mri to see if I have a tumor on the pituitary very soon.

For those of you w/ pituitary tumors what is the plan of action? Brain surgery? Is it life threatening? HRT?
Have you ever used steroids before?
If so when, and how much, and which ones?

I've taken propecia for hair loss and it destroyed my sex drive. I know of lots of other men are in the same boat as me with the low hormone levels after stopping treatment.

If you got time, could you answer my question as well? same topic. here's my labs:

LH SERUM 2.0 REF RANGE 1.1 - 8.8 IU/L
FSH SERUM 1.0 REF RANGE 1.0 - 13.6 IU/L
ESTRADIOL 71 REF RANGE 0 - 161 PMOL/L
PROLACTIN 5.6 REF RANGE 2.6 - 13.1 UG/L
TESTOSTERONE BIOAVAIL. 4.68 REF RANGE 2.0 - 8.6 NMOL/L

I've never taken steroids, only corticosteroids(Cortef 10mg daily) recently. I use the cortef and 2.5 grains armour to treat hypothyroid.

I had this test done late 2007. Been treating hypothyroid since early 2007.

Any way to deal with this? Run for a MRI?

I'm currently researching, trying to determine if it's a hypopituitary issue, or if by some nature it's related to how the guys on steroids get theirs shut down.

What I find interesting is that I'm not the only male with that kind of score and seemingly no hypopituitary problem (unsure yet, but we'll see). I say we may not have hypopit because most of our pituitary still works great, i.e my TSH can skyrocket if my thyroid levels drop.

I had low LH and FSH after steroid use and had been off for about a year. Total testosterone was in the mid 500's on two tests. Went to see a specialist in TRT, and he put me on low dose HCG daily. I didnt know much about HCG at the time and did as he sugested. This kept my LH/FSH low and suppressed my pituitary gland furthor. Ended up on TRT and then sought help from another physician who has me on low dose clomid. My LH has responded pretty good and is in good range, but the FSH is still very low. Been on clomid for a year now and doc says the low FSH levels may be permanent damage to the pituitary. Anyway not willing to give up yet so all your prayers appreciated.

I did IM test (600 mg/week) for several months.

I did 4 weeks of beta-hCG and clomid as PCT.

My blood testosterone level has now been low-normal for 5 weeks.

But, my LH and FSH are still VERY VERY low (undetectable).

How much longer should it take ? My wife wanted another child, like yesterday, so there is time pressure for me.

Thanks for any help !

Drop Clomid
do 300iu HCG every day
if you do not get her pregnant within 6 months
add 75iu HMG every day
if you do not get her pregnant within next 3 month check your sperm

while you are on HCG and (eventually) on HCG + HMG
keep checking E2 using Quest Diagnostics test

Estradiol, Ultrasensitive, LC/MS/MS (30289X)

if it gets above about 35 or so
add small amounts of Arimidex, about 0.25mg/eOD

You do not want agressive E2 management
but you do not want to get gyno either

Keep your

DHEAs(500-640
and
Vit D in upper part of range, take at least 6000iu/day or more

HMG is very impressive for this, I know a guy that was on for over a year and recovered using HCG, HMG, clomid, and nolva.

Remember clomid @ 100mg ED can double LH and increase FSH by 20% to 50% over 5 to 7 days.

For you clomid would be a good option once your endo T levels are near normal.
