Default Is there a connection between HCG and prostate cancer?

I have trouble understanding these medical studies because of the terminology, so I'm hoping somebody here can explain this study to me in layman's terms. I'm not to clear on the differences between Beta-HCG and Alpha-HCG.

What type of HCG do we take?

It is old and looks like they were doing 50,000 IU's.

Default Re: Is there a connection between HCG and prostate cancer?

paraphrase from my HCG insert:

HCG a polypeptide hormone produced by the human placenta, is composed of an alpha and a beta sub-unit. The alpha sub-unit is essentially identical to the alpha sub uunits of the human pituitary gonadotropins, LH, FSH, and TSH. The beta sub units of these hormones differ in amino acid sequence.

Based on that statement my guess is HCG contains both alpha and beta sub-units as does the hormones from the pituitary. The alpha sub unit of HCG is virtually identical to the alpha sub unit of LH, FSH and TSH. But the beta subunit is not. So we take both alpha a beta but only the alpha is active. Am I interpreting that right?
