Variability in amount of injectable T needed

Hi Dr. C, I'm hoping you might answer the following:

I'm wondering what proportion (1/4, 1/3 . . .) of patients undergoing TRT with testosterone cypionate, but *not* augmenting with HCG, are likely to need a weekly injection amount greater than 100mg?

Similarly, what proportion that *are* augmenting with HCG are likely to need a weekly injection amount greater than 100mg?

And for those not augmenting with HCG and needing more than 100mg T-cyp, what would tend to be the typical upper limit (150mg, 200mg, . . .) of weekly T-cyp that might be employed?

Likewise, for those that are augmenting with HCG and needing more than 100mg T-cyp, what would tend to be the typical weekly upper limit?

A rough idea? "Not many". i have never counted, but do not have man guys on more than 100mg per week. I'd have to say I have more on less than, rather than more than, 100mg per week.

Do you recomend then hcg for a whle every few months to keep the nuts from disappearing entirely?

Dr. C, thanks for the response. What I'm wondering is if significant numbers of guys with high SHBG levels are the ones that are tending to need more than 100mg/wk? My SHBG has been measured 3 times (all prior to beginning any TRT), by 2 different labs over the course of 8 months, and it came back as between 60 and 65 nmol/L all 3 times - and my age is only 45. So my thought is that maybe extra T-cyp may be needed to drive down a high SHBG level (in order to obtain a reasonably high free-T level) . . . Do you or anyone else have any thoughts on this aspect?

After TRT is adjusted appropriately, SWALE recommends hCG on a continual basis.
