I have daytraded the stock market, and found it was too stressful for my personality type (ADD), and I was finally resolved to the fact that I was not that good at it, at least not good using a level 2 Nasdaq system because it was too fast paced for this ADD guy. There was too much going on in to many places, and as I said earlier, I cannot multitask well at all. I could expound on this quite a bit, because the strategies changed from time to time since the market is cyclic, and at times, trading was a no brainer, and even I could make money in those times, but over all since the market is indeed an ever evolving organism I decided day trading was not for me and that staring at the screen all day became a bore. However as all successful traders know, you must trade your personality, it just took me 10 years to figure that out.
My personality is more slow paced intermediate to long term trading position trading now in Mutuals, ETFs, and a basket of Buffet type value stocks, so technically I am now an investor, especially since everything I invest in has a intrinsic value.
As far as puzzles, I really don't know, because I don't do them, and have no interest in them. When I watch games like survivor and see the challanges and puzzles they do under pressure, I know it would not be my cup of tea, and that I would pretty much stink at it. I rarely play card games such as Rook and the like because I cannot remember the numbers that well and cannot do that math that fast in my head, especially when playing against guys that have mathmatical aptitudes and can actually count the cards, etc. Very frustrating, and simply not fun for me, since I am a word person and not a math/numbers person. If I were to play a board game (and I am not a big fan of games) it would be Scrabble, or Bible Trivia Pursuit, games of that sort.
I am terrible at many things mechanical, but I don't think that is a ADD related issue but rather an apptitude probem. I know there are many ADD folks that are exceptional at math and have mechanical/engineering apptitudes.
I was just talking to a friend of mine a few days ago and he is ADD and take Rx for it. He said he didn't know how he made it through college. He would flunk a class and have to retake at the last minute to get his degree, and because of the deadline (adrenaline release, fight or flight) he would then end up scoring in the 90th percentile on a class he formerly flunked!
Do I feel airheaded sometimes? Yes. In the car I would make wrong turns all the time as well as take the wrong exits and this is in a town I have lived in for 10 years. However, this happens a lot less frequently since I have started taking some supplements and doing the daily exercise.
