Default Vitamin D and testosterone

Is there any correlation scientifically that states that vitamin D is related to testosterone by possible stimulation of LH. My vitamin D levels came back on low end (25 ohd) at 34 and range was 20-100 and from resarch I gathered this is vitamin D defieincy mercola standards want you at 75-90 as well as CFS guidellines

Thanks

I think 75-90 puts you over the top end of the range. Per Mercola, you don't want to be lower than (32) for OHD. My first test came in at (24). Dr. Shippen has me taking 25000 one day a week; the rest I take between 3000-4000 per day. Latest blood test came back at (47), almost double the original test. I don't know if it mimics LH, but has an impact in preventing many major diseases. Go to http://www.knowledgeofhealth.com/; Bill Sardi has several interesting articles on Vitamin D.

Depends on what range and what diagnostic lab you use they all have different ranges . Some of them nomrally 55 is the top end some 100. Every CFS site i have read they want you up to 80--90 % the top end range. So for me that be over 75. It really hard to get over the top so to speak. Even people baking in the sun at the equator never get over that. How many weeks did you do the 25000 ius. I heard that i heard 50,000 once a week for 8 weeks in many clincial studies with bed ridden patence, My question is how long did you retest after initally starting the procotol..I have to take emulisied D for absrption problems.. But i have an idea of taking cortsol with out dhea to counter act it's nasty side effects may be causing alot of mineral metabolism problems including vitamin D.. The sad part i was taking 4,000 ius a day for 2 months and it is winter time here so that may explain it. and it still came out 34. On the lab report it self stated that 32 or below was vitaminD insufficent so mercola and other what you up to 75%-80% of the highest number...

It took about (5) months to reach (47). The next test, about (8) weeks after the initial one of (24) came in at (34). That's when I decided to up the amount even more. I still take the 25000 ius once a week, plus 4000-5000 six days a week. I will look into your question about vitamin D either mimicking or assisting LH, since my recent labs show Total T at 762, about (80) points higher than I have ever had in the last 1 1/2 years of testing. I take HCG only and reduced the amount about (30%) weekly since my E2 was becoming elevated. I expected both Total T and the E2 to come down with the reduction of daily HCG shots. Total T went up and the E2 dropped!!! I am now wondering if the increase in Vitamin D intake may have played a role in the increase in Total T.

I'm really surprised Dr. Shippen has you on such a high dosage of Vitamin D.

When I last spoke with him on the subject, with my Vitamin D levels at 17... He said that he finds most patients need about 20k IU a week. (I believe that was the number, if anything it was a little lower)

I'm currently on 2000 IU per day, and will likely up that to 3000 IU per day.

Am very curious as to what reasoning he has to have you go that high. I can understand up to 4000 I U daily, but then when you add in the 25k IU additional once a week. Well wow. (Not that it is likely dangerous from what I read)

Vitamin D may have an impact on estrogen metabolism some how possbile by inceasing t3.
Polar syndrome has proven that people in antartica that were meansured with out sunlight for an exxtemnded amount of time there t-3 drops by 30% but t4 stays the same. Another group gven the t-3 avoided the depression and weight gain associated with lack of sunlight. So it is proven that vitamind d is essential for t-3 production and increae t-3 means increase estrogen clearance through the liver. Also to what was your scale used i think it was the 20-55 scale thats one mercola uses but more so when we converted to perentages your 47 would be equilent to 75-80 precentile which is excelllent and i need to get there because I have always been on the low end for 2-3 years already and never been at optimal levels so getting the vitamin D up wwould be a big boost for thyroid and also my adrenals as well since tthey both are controled through vitamin D mechancism. I am doing 25000 ius 2 times a week and will retest in 6 weeks. and getting out in the sunlight as well. Also people with adrenal fatigue need more vitamin D duie to fat absorption problems ...Why I take emulisified fforms.

Needs more then 20000 k a week provided that they are some what in near opitmal range already. most people in winter time need 4000 ius a day, and need to be momnitored but most drs will not do this and its probably one of the most importamnt things that can save and prevent alotof illnesses

Some of my colleagues and Dr Cannell, the Vitamin D guru, have done extensive searches for a connection between Vitamin D and testosterone levels. At this point none has been uncovered. Remember that Vitamin D is better described as a hormone not a vitamin. It has a lot of beneficial attributes for overall wellness and even athletic performance which could indirectly affect balanced and healthy hormone levels.

Dr. Shippen has me on 25000 per week. I decided to "experiment" with the additional, daily amounts. Dr. Shippen is a superb doctor as those of us who have had the good fortune to be under his care will attest.
As the warm weather approaches, i.e. the six months we have where we can actually benefit from sunlight, I'll probably cut back. I wouldn't want you to think he prescribed that amount. He did mention he would like to see me in the 50-55 range, which I could not do on 25000 per week. Again, we are all different. Whereas one may respond to the prescribed dose, others need more. I don't intend to go any higher.
Initially Jack, if you tested at 17, I'd be curious to know how you fare with 20000. I believe the effect of vitamin D is cumulative. That's why the RDA is still based on decades old research which only serves to potentially invite the onset of major illnesses if that is all that is consumed on a daily basis. Good Luck.....

17 on a scale of 15-55 is pretty my same as being 34 on a scale 20-100 so it ought to be interesting. Actuall I am feeling alot more perkier so to speak and more calmer moods are alot more stable then been before. Just have to deal with this damn constipation. its not fiber its not magnesium. its estrogen/copper imblance. causing serotonin imblanace (low 5hiaa urine not even measureing) Well any one comment on flax seed oil vs flax seeds ground on estreogen metabolism in males and not female. I hear lignon will increase estrogen please clarify this

The fiber in ground flax, not flax oil, will help eliminate some estrogen metabolites so they dont recycle. Also the lignans in flax, not flax oil, are generally prostate beneficial. See the web information on Provail and its constituent seicoisolariciresinol diglycoside.

One possible link that I saw reviewing my notes is that Vit D will raise dopamine levels and indirectly may affect testosterone. Not much of a cause and effect finding.

Direct stimulation from the sunlight would cause hypothalamus to be stimualted as well, but it be curious to see if vitamin D supplement will do the same thing. Sunlight also causes stimulation of testosterone due to the natural pattern of child birth. testosterone are natural higher in the summer time due to exposure to sunlight. Sunlight also feeds cells and detoxifys the body. With out sunlight our whole body will not function optimally and thyroid has been highly documented via polar t-3 syndrome in antartica
