Effect of vitamin E on function of pituitary-gonadal axis in male rats and human subjects.

The role of vitamin E in the endocrine system, in particular the pituitary-gonadal axis, was studied in humans and male rats by examining the hormonal differences between vitamin E deficient and supplemented conditions. In vitamin E deficient rats, pituitary content and basal plasma level of FSH and LH were significantly lower than those of the control rats, but testicular content and basal plasma level of testosterone were not significantly changed. On the other hand, in vitamin E supplemented rats, FSH and LH content in pituitary tissue was significantly higher than that of the controls, but there was no significant rise in basal FSH and LH level in plasma. The testosterone level was significantly elevated in both testicular tissue and plasma. It was also demonstrated that basal plasma testosterone and F.T.I. were increased in normal male subjects following oral vitamin E administration and the responsiveness of plasma testosterone levels to HCG was significantly higher during vitamin E administration than before administration. These results suggest that vitamin E may play an important and potent role in hormone production in the pituitary-gonadal axis in humans and rats.

This is good information, but here's a question I've been wondering about for ages: how do WE get pharmaceutical grade vitamins that are actually absorbable?

I think, in these experiments, they are using a very high quality injected vitamin E. We humans can only get our hands on the room-temperature, couple year old shit they sell at department stores are essentially all cheap marketing gimmicks.

Plus, there's d-alpha-trocopherol, which is said to be a rather useless form of E. What were they using in this study?

Does anyone have a source for high quality, bioaailable vitamin E?

I have a "high-gamma" Vitamin E from Nature's Way (400iu) and an Isomer Vitamin E supplement from GNC (400oiu.)

I take both daily for 800iu of mixed source Vitamin E.

Vitamin E is well absorbed orally. It doesn't need to be injected. What you are taking is fine.

Swale commented on this when he was having it out with AR last year. There is something different about the vitamin E used in that study than the stuff we can get at the store (I don't know what though). Anyway, I remember Swale saying that the benefit would be negligable for you and I (generally speaking of course).

right or wrong, I don't think it matters. What harm is taking a daily dose of vitamin E gonna do? right? I take it just because, I don't really care if it makes my HCG work better or not. I'm just commenting for someone who may consider using it for the express intent of improving HCG effectiveness.
