About a year ago i started having low libido and weak erections. I went to my urologist. My serum T came back around 340. He put me on 400mg shots of testosterone cypionate. After 3 months, this did nothing for my libido or erections but it did shrink my testicles. He wanted to keep me on it but I refused and stopped. After a few weeks my testicles came back and then my erections seemed to be good for a while, even though my libido still sucked. I went to an endo, who took more blood tests. He said everything "seemed good" except my thyroid (TSH??) was a bit elevated, but there were no anti-thyroid antibodies present. After about a month I had another blood test for the thyroid and it came back the same - slightly elevated but no antibodies. So basically, here I am today, no libido, weak as h*ll erections, and no idea why?? I haven't had a morning erection in a year, and by use of the "stamp test" i don't have nocturnal erections either. I've even stopped looking at porn cause I don't have the desire to! WTH is wrong with me???? I'm 34, in good shape, never had a problem like this. Any ideas? Please!

TSH >2.0 or now 1.5 can flag thyroid issues You may also need to have proper adrenal function measured by saliva. Believe it or nor most male and females that come to the office have sex hormones, thyroid and adrenal imbalances.

What's the rationale for TSH >1.5 redflagging low thyroid function? seeing this chart Normal TSH Nearly everyone would be hypothyroid. |

it's been a few months so i don't remember what all my results were. I'll have to get a copy. I believe my serum T was exactly 342, TSH was 4.0. Thing was i had no other thyroid symptoms other than libido loss and poor erections...no weight gain (i've been the same weight for 15 years), no dry skin, no sensitivity to temperature. I have noticed recently it seems as though i'm bruising easily. Don't know if that means anything. One other thing to note is, although i have the low libido problem, every so often, say, one a month, i'll have a day where i feel "normal" again. That is, i'll wake up and have a normal libido and can get a strong erection, but it only lasts at most a day then it's back to bad. Doesn't make sense.

Maybe too high E2 for you? Your whole case does sound a bit weird though. In order to get an idea about whether your hormones are involved though, we need to see some tests to get an idea about it. Impotence is associated with low thyroid function though. I've had a low thyroid for years, in fact, I only got diagnosed the day before yesterday. But I never had much weigt gain from or particular dry skin. In fact I was underweight for a long time. My issues more related to fatigue, constipation, depression and insomnia. Only recently am I having weight gain and sexual dysfunction. That's seems to have more to do with the T and E2 than thyroid for me.

One more thing i forgot to mention was that i was diagnosed with "non alcoholic fatty liver" I'm not really sure why, as my diet is pretty good. I don't eat a lot of fatty foods or too many carbs. Anyway, i'm not sure if that could be playing a role in my problems or not.

The liver controls a LOT of essential biochemical processes involving digestion, energy storage and waste removal. It is probably the most complicated organ we have. Malfunctions can cause a myriad of symptoms. The "non alcoholic fatty liver" indicates that one or more commonly checked liver enzymes, liver function involves ~500 enzymes, is out of range and that the cause is not from long-term excessive alcohol use. Basicially liver cells are being replaced with fat cells. This process is not good but the rate must be considered in order to appraise the significance. If you were 76yo and this came on in the past month it would not be good. You- I dont know- insufficient information. You need a skilled diagnostician and a variety of blood tests. diet has little to do with it Quote:
