Default Whats the general consensus about eye damage on clomid and nolva

After being warned and doing a search I found out that not just clomid but nolva can do some serious damage to the eyes. I was always of the belief that if the vision started to be affected I would just stop the treatment and that would be that. However from what I have read often the damage is not noticed "visually" but will become apparent as a later long term effect.

I think many bros go by the notion that all is ok because they have no short term effects, Im wandering has anyone had any actual eye examinations before and after clomid/nolva to see if there was any negative effect.

Not to be paranoid but vision is not something you want to mess with.

Hi!

I took clomid for 2 months straight, a year ago. I noticed some visual disturbances after a week, and decreased the dose from 100mg/day to 25mg/day. The disturbances improved a bit, but first went away after I stopped clomid.

My visual disturbance was triggered by bright light in dark enviroments, and looked like flickering in the sides of my eyes. (hard to explaine)

On the last few weeks on clomid I noticed some floaters in my left eye. They never went away, I still have them.

I just came off tamoxifen (nolvadex) a few days ago (took it for 2 months), and have had no interference with my eyes whatsoever.

My advise. Stay away from clomid, but if you MUST try it, stop as soon as you notice visual disturbances.

I was on for 8 weeks of Nolva. Started @ 50mg and tapered everyweek until I was @ 5-10 mg my last week.

It messed my ability to see color vividly. Like a permanent light fog over everything that I see. Everything looks dull and washed out. Naturally pale people look almosy grey.

Night vision was affected BIG TIME. Also big halos over any kind of lights at night(headlights, streetlights).

BTW before the Nolva I literally had PERFECT vision. I really miss that. Be careful is all I'm saying.

I did 40mg clomid + 20mg nolva for a month or 2. Can't remember exactly how long but it's in a thread somewhere...

Anyway I got floaters on my eyes (pretty sure it was from the clomid) and still have them now (though not as bad).

I haven't noticed any changes with Nolva over two months at 20mg per day.

I was on about 50 mg Clomid + 20 mg Nolva for about 2 months then tapered down - didn't notice much if anything bad happening with my eyes - actually noted no side effects at all besides bigger than normal testicles.

I've taken Nolvadex for almost 4 months straight from Sept 2006 to Jan 2007 before having a 3 week trial of armidex. I notice that my ability to focus - the sharpness/detail of things is marginally worse while on Nolva, and that it improved somewhat after I stopped it. I will be extremely pissed off if it leaves any kind of permanent side affects.... Theres nothing documented about it affecting vision iirc.

Right now I'm going to continue for probably another month or two on Nolva before potential Gyne surgery, and I'm assuming that my vision will return to pre treatment acuity after I finish it...

Cheers

Hi MB99,

The "halos" around street lights at night is one of the major symptoms of Glaucoma (elevated interoccular pressure - IOP). Have you been to an opthamologist and had your eye pressures
checked? The Nolva and/or clomide might have elevated the IOP - if so, eye drops that lower
IOP might help you get your vision back closer to normal. Now I'm not saying you have Glaucoma but it might be worth looking into getting the drops.

Just a Thought,

GamIam

Actually there is ALOT documented on Nolvadex's affect on vision. ALOT.

Just do a google search on visual side effects or damage from Nolvadex. You will find quite a bit from several different sources and sites........For some VERY ODD reason nobody talks about this on the bodybuilding sites. Then I do a search and find out that Nolva is known to cause all kinds of visual problems including ctaracts, corneal changes, loss of color/ night vision, it can cause extra artery/veins to form in the eyes, and ALL KINDS OF OTHER THINGS.

...and this was supposed to be the SERM WITHOUT side effects. Well not for everyone. I understand that there are alot of people that don't experience side effects, but I think it's VERY irresponsible to suggest this as a SERM to other people and lead them to believe that there are no side effects. It's just not true and wrong. Some people get no sides.....some people get REALLY bad sides.

Again, don't take my word for it. Just go do a search on the subject. Take your time and sift through the material, sites, and medical studies. Nolvadex is FAR from risk free.

As for you some of your symptoms sound familiar. I too have trouble focusing on things and if I do it can get out of focus very easily or quickly. Weigh your options. I kept on w/ the Nolva thinking that the visual sides were temporary. A year after the Nolva and same deal. I've been taking Billberry extract for a month and it seems to be helping a bit, but I'm certainly not 100% yet. I'm hopeful, but overall I REALLY regret taking that Nolva. Nasty stuff .

It's a cancer drug. In all honesty a bunch of gym rats have no business taking it. Common sense, but we like to play with fire. Usually it's OK< but every once in a while someone gets burned. I got burned bcuse the profiles said this SERM was safe...........After my vision got affected I decided to do a little research on my own. To my horror this stuff is medically known to do quite a number on alot of people's vision. Now I know, but it's a bit late.

At the very least I think you should all know the risk and you can do your own research and make your own choice based on knowledge, not internet heresay or advice from your local meathead (like I did). Don't be lazy. Look it up and decide.

I actually had my eye pressure checked and they said it was normal. However after being to so many docs and learning some of the things I learned I have to wonder what "normal" means. Am I on the high end or low end ? I have ZERO idea what the criteria is.

I have to wonder if my eye pressure was "normal" the same way my 365 test level (at age 32) was "normal".

Something to think about, thanks.
