Default Are baked potatoes ok for cutting?

I am going to starting my cutting diet next week, but have a question. I used eat baked potatoes alot on my last cutting cycle. I simply put the spray fat free butter on and some salsa and eat them that way. I was just told that I should stay away from potatoes while cutting. Is this true and why?

1) Moderately restrict cal 500-1000 per day with high protein (2.5 g per kg of body weight), moderate carbs and fats.

2) You want to reduce intake of high glycemic carbs such as potatoes, rice, pasta, and grains. Get your carbs from non-starchy vegetables and low glycemic fruits. Diets containing greater amounts of low glycemic index foods promote fat loss better than diets made up of high GI foods.

3) Substitute polyunsaturated fats and monosaturated fats for saturated fats. Eat nuts, olive oil, and canola oil. Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as fish.

Just the opposite, bro. High GI carbs AFTER training, if eaten before you will surely have an energy crash.
Two best times to eat carbs are for breakfast and immediatly after training.

I heard that whey proteins and complex carbs like yams are good 45 min preworkout...I hear guys have more energy because of this.
