Default calorie counting/diary software

Hi All,

I've decided to count calories exactly using a 5kg scale. A spreadsheet would work, but do any of you have a better way?

I've found http://www.crosstrainer.ca/ It looks decent, but I'm not sure that Excel might be better for what i need.

any experience?

Thx.

I made up my own spreadsheet in Excel. Works quite well and tells me all that I need to know. I get the nutrition info from the product label, or the USDA Nutrient Database (if there isnt a label).

Thanks Bob,

The USDA Nutrient Database at http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl looks excellent!

Looks like excel is a simple answer. All I plan on tracking is Calories/Carb/protein/fat maybe fiber do you track more stuff?

Carbs, pro, fat, calories per meal, total calories for the day, grams and % of calories from each macronutrient, goal calories and calories remaining for the day.

Makes sense.

I started the eXcel.

page 1 : ingredients
page 2 : monthly template
pages 3+: the months.

I briefly thought about setting up linked sheets for each day, but then sanity caught up with me. I think cut and paste will work just fine and XL is pretty good with sorting the ingredient lists.

the crosstrainer had a few nice features like pie charts and also workout scheduling, but I think I'll save $50.

Thanks.

Bob, I made a spread sheet and found out that I have not a clue what I'm doing. Can you PM me or post an example of the one you made? Oldman any example from you would be appreciated also. Thanks.

Have you tried: www.fitday.com

Easy to set up and you can add foods that aren't in their database. Plus it's free. Peace.
