Congradulations on five years of marriage, bro. I was married for three years, but it ended in divorce. When I diet I eat cheat meals a few times a week, then I re-adjust my calorie intake or cardio to cover the cheat without blowing the diet. I'd say go for it. It's your anniversary and you deserve a good time out with your wife. Be prepared to cut back extra calories and/or boost your cardio to keep it from ruining your calorie deficit. Good luck. Beefy |

Thanks bro, I think marriage is one of the hardest things that I've had to deal with in my life. But I happy Im married, thanks for your input. Sunday I had already planned to drop my carbs by 50g and increase cardio by five mins. How does it work anyway? if I take in 1k extra in cals how far will that put me back? or do I "stop" burning fat until I burn those extra 1k cals?

More than likely, the cheat day will help you. Unless you're following a "yoyo" type diet you probably really need a day or two of higher calories anyway. Really, you could totally go out and eat and still be more or less within your diet. Order fish or a lean cut of steak or chicken marsala or something like that. It won't kill you. Just don't go on the Grizzly plan which is when you eat everything you can get your hands on becase, if you're going to do soemthing, you may as well go all out. |

). Sugar (glucose) is essential for proper brain function and all sorts of other bodily activities. Anyways, if you want to cut your carbs just don't go too low or stay low for too long. 50g of carbs is roughly 200 cals, and 5 extra minutes of cardio won't do much but it depends on what you do for cardio. The short answer to your question is that yes you do stop burning fat until you burn those extra 1k calories. If you are not in a negative calorie state, you aren't burning. If you are in a positive state, you are gaining. Of course this applies to your calorie state spread over several days. It has a cumulative affect. So if you've been in a deficit for three weeks and then you eat one meal of 1k cal, then you go back to your diet, you'll be fine. A slight boost in cal intake every 4 days or so will help keep your metabolism at its highest levels. There's an interesting thread in the Women's Forum that talks about this. Hope I was of some help, bro. Beefy |

I take in 3500 cals with seven meals a day, I've learned that I can eat the same things every day with out a problem. Meal 1 8 eggs and oatmeal and 2 pints of water meals 2-7 are all the same, chicken and rice with veggies 2 pints of water with each meal. Every now and them I'll have tuna fish. -thank you- |

Congrats on the anniversary!! The occasional bump in calories will keep the furnace burning so to speak (diet wise). A couple meals won’t kill you here or there. I would suggest that unless you are dieting for a pro qualifier competition or something potentially life-altering, blow off the diet for a night and spend some QT with your cutie and enjoy your night out!!! Y'all have made it through 5 years of marriage, a diet of three weeks should not even be considered as a reason not to show your wife how much you love her. You can always do another three weeks of dieting at anytime...you probably won’t be able to find another girl like her, right? Again - congrats on the anniversary. JaPe |

JP, you are correct about no diet being more important, lol hell theres no way that she would let me no go anyway. I ve been eatting clean for so long now that any change makes me feel bad for some reason. I dont know why but after the nite we had dinner, I wake up feeling pissed at myself, but she had a great time so that way more important then my little diet. -thank you- |

Look at your caloric intake as an average over the week as opposed to per day. If you were anal enough to want to keep on the same average caloric intake per week, then just cutting a couple hundred calories per day over the course of a week would allow an additional 1400 calories for that one meal. For me, I need that one cheat meal per week to stay motivated and to have something to look forward to each week. BTW, congrats on the anniversary! |
