Kids are notoriously fussy eaters, but one Suffolk lad has taken this to the extreme. 16-year-old Craig Flatman has eaten nothing but jam sandwiches since he was four. Dubbed, imaginatively, 'Jam Boy' by the nation's press, Craig's diet goes against all advice given to parents regarding bringing up a healthy child, such as eating five portions of fruit and vegetables every day. It is even more surprising, therefore, that Craig appears to be in good health. A mad sports fan, Craig is six-foot-two, plays basketball and football and has astounded doctors who tested his liver, kidneys, pancreas and gall bladder and found that they were all in working order. Blood tests, however, suggested Craig is borderline anaemic, and he will certainly have to expand his diet as he approaches adulthood. The trouble is, thanks to years of his bland diet, other foods make him sick.
