Default Newbie Diet advice and introduction

Hello all, new member to the forums.
What a great community.

I am a 36 male. 6'5" 225lbs. bout 17%BF ectomorph.
Looking to bulk up.
Are there any online food journals (free preferably) where i can track my feedings with calories and nutrient ratios?

I have some training background form my younger days (collegiate basketball 20's, then Judo after for 3yrs). Started seriously training again in MAR this year.
Goals: gain some mass (like 30lbs) and Strength. I have always been a hard gainer and I think diet was my downfall. so suggestions are appreciated.

preparing 1st cycle
500mg Test Cyp
300mg Deca
per week 12 weeks

doctors supervision with Blood work/ PCT etc.

Thanks in advance.

Hey slak Welcome,

The board members here are very helpful and you will learn tons;

Try this site here:

www.mypyramid.gov

It keeps a daily log for you. You plug in what you ate and it tells you all the nutrients gathered from eating that food. As well as how much fat you have consumed and your total calorie intake for that day. You can asses how much activity you do and for how long and it will tell you how many calories are needed. It also tells you how many servings of each food group is needed for your body depending on wether or not you want to lose, maintain, or gain weight.

Have fun with this useful site; It has been a life saver for me.

Welcome again,

Cory

Thanks for the reply!

I discovered fitday yesterday, but will try this link instead.

I figured out that I have never eaten enough when training to support gains in size. It s crazy when you try to eat good, and still consume the nutrients in the amounts you need. I have started documenting everything I do and it seems to help so much.
Never realized how hard it is to eat 3600+ calories in a day of good foods...

Anyway thanks again! I will keep posting my learning experiences so maybe other people looking for info can find it.

Thanks a bunch!

Give Fit Day a look. Makes tracking your diet pretty easy. The stand-alone software is even better and inexpensive.

Thank for the reply. I started using fitday. What difference it makes knowing exactly what you are eating and planning your feedings. It's alot harder eating what u need than I thought. I think this has been the downfall in my training over the years.

My strength has gone up, I have more energy, more regular BM's (heh) general overall better feeling.

Excited to see some actual results.

Thanks for the help people.

Now I am getting a little notebook to document my workouts today.

I have another question regarding BCAAs. I understand these help prevent catabolism, is this true? ANd what foods are best for BCAAs?
I currently supplement my diet with
FLaxseed oil, Muscle milk, milk thistle, arginine ornithine and a glutamine powder.
