Here is an interesting statistic from my city.

In 2005, there were 45 deaths ruled as "homicide" by the coroners office in my city. This past monday in my local newspaper, they had pictures of all 45 murder victims. 43 were black and 2 were white.

Of all homicides in my city in 2005, 95.55% were black individuals (most young black men). 4.44% of the murders were white individuals (both in their 30's).

Now, black people make up 39.1% of the city population and whites constitute 59.5% of the population. Obviously, the number of homicides is greatly disproportionate to the actual population. Why is this???

Is it racism??? Are blacks more prone to violence???

I don't view my city as having a big gang problem. My city has a female black mayor who does nothing but criticize the local police. Of the 13 council members, there are 11 blacks and 2 whites. The mayor and all 11 black council members are democrats, one of the whites is a democrat, and one is a republican. Since this group has been in charge, crime has spiralled out of control, drug crimes have increased greatly, and the police force has seen major cutbacks.

Why is there an unusually high number of black people being murdered in the US relative to every other group???

I think it has something to do with the jungle not being able to be removed or something. I forget how that saying goes.

Because they are disadvantaged and oppressed. The 25 y/o black male is trying to overcome 260 years of slavery that hasn't gone on for 150 years. Because they are put down, turned away from jobs for lacking the ability to speak english, "forced" to live in low income areas, forced to go to schools that they themselves destroy and all around fucked in the ass by society, they are angry. They deserve to be angry. I would be.

So they do what any reasonable man would do when he is angry. They rob and kill their neighbors and destroy their neighborhoods.

In summation, it is a function of class struggle and the anger caused by the way society keeps the black man down and in slave chains.
