Default Getting into PL?

Lately, I have found myself questioning why I train, eat and supplement. Originally, it was for vanity reasons. I had a goal in mind when I started, and I think I have exceeded that original, vanity-based goal. Maybe that is the reason I have been questioning my lifestyle. Getting started later in life than most (I am currently 37), my future in all this muscle building is limited. I didn't have the desire to compete at anything (BB or PL), but the thought of getting into PL has started to cross my mind. This would enable me to set and work towards another goal. I have always lifted by myself (other than training my wife) at a non-hardcore gym. As of late, all of my training has been 5x5 or DHFT. I am currently 5'11", 240lbs. My lifts are 300+, 400+, 500+ for bench, squat, DL. Not sure of exact numbers (don't do singles), but they are in the lower half of those numbers.

So, after all that verbage, I guess I have a few questions and/or thought/opinions from some members who are vet's and newbies to PL. Could you point me to a site that has good info on the rules, fed's, meet schedules, etc.? Are there any fed's who's lifts are raw (belt only)? What other advise do you have to offer for someone getting into PL?

Sorry for the long post. Maybe the first part should have been posted in the General Discussion Forum.

Thanks
Beefster

www.midwestbarbell.com - go to the forum.

www.elitefts.com - read all the articles from testosterone mag on that site - (they are linked).

Feel free to email me with any questions.

Matt

Matt.

What do you think of the westside dvds? I'm considering adding them to the store.

Beefster..

Why don't you post your current routine for a typical week.. and let us take a look at it..

from here.. we'll help you put together a PL routine that would benefit you.. I know you don't have a desire to compete... but I can see a lot of room for improvement in the strength department...

Thanks for the links AM. I have started in on the reading. That will keep me busy for awhile.

Phreezer,
My routines over the past year + have been exclusively 5x5 or DFHT. I follow the 5x5 as posted, and only slightly alter the DFHT (drop board presses and don't always to pull-throughs). I am currently doing DFHT. Generally speaking, I have done 5x5 to cut and DFHT to bulk. I am currently working around, what I believe to be is, a bicep and/or tendon problem in my right arm. This has limited the pull-ups, overhead BB work and bicep work I can do. I am trying to work through it. After being clean for a bit, if it hasn't improved, I am going to hit the doc.

Like I said previously, up until now, I haven't had the desire to compete....though that is starting to change......setting short and long term goals will help me stay focused.

Thanks for all the info.
