I couldn't agree more....they most likely only asked athletes in the most competitive school and only in sports that steroid use might have a higher chance of use in.....I wouldn't be surprised if this was a truly random selection, that that number would drop to less than 1%....

Grizz, I will venture to say that even 1000 is an overstatement. Steroids are simply not an issue with high school girls, period. Girls in high school don't use steroids to look better, at least say they are trying to be the next Flo Jo.

This is just absurd, and I agree with whoever said that there is something greater going on here than we know of...and it likely involves a mix of politics, esp. powerful lobbies, and money.

Here is the oft-cited monitoring the future study. This is from 2001, and I am sure there are newer ones on their website, I just don't feel like looking to be honest. This is primarily where the politicians get their data from...look at the recent postings from the Sentencing Commission and see who the prosecutor cited.,,,of course, this bullshit.

Among the number of gems in here, it says creatine is a protein supplement often used in conjunction with androstenedione and steroids. HMMM, OK.

There is stuff about study design and all that in these monographs, might be worth checking out for those interested.
