90 day old insulin

Is it ok for me to resume using my insulin pen after having stopped using the pen 90 days ago.
It does not expire until 11/2008, it is clear but not cloudy. Does it simply loose its effectiveness or can it break down into something hazardous. It has not been exposed to heat (at least nothing over 20°C.
