IF you are on cycle or in the early stages of PCT, the blood work is not really going to tell you anything too useful. However, if you are nearly done with PCT or completely off cycle. The figures will be very helpful insight into your bodies current status.
The Figures: You should ask to have LH, FSH, Total Testosterone, Free Testosterone, Bioavailable Testosterone, SHBG, and Total Estrogen checked at a minimum. Thyroid function and the like would be a good one time bonus. Be sure to specifically request what I've specified here, because alot of Docs are too damn ignorant to be trusted to run it on their own.
The approach: "the sad puppy" is a good strategy that will help to allieviate suspicion. Here's how you do it....
Dr - What brings you here today Mr. Smith?
Mr. Smith - Well, I've been really struggling with my training here lately. Its taking me a long time to recover and it seems my progress is almost reversing. Its like I get weaker with every workout!
Dr - Have you considered taking some time off?
Mr. Smith - I did that.... no help. I'm not sleeping nearly as well either.
Dr - sounds like you might be getting older. Maybe its time to slow down the pace a bit?
Mr. Smith - Well, I am getting older, but I don't think that's it. All of what I am describing to you seems to come about over the past few months. I've been doing some reading, and I think that my testosterone levels my have fallen for some reason.
Dr - go on.
Mr Smith - Well, I'd just like for you to run some blood work on me since I've never had this stuff checked before, and make sure that everything is doing what its supposed to be doing.
Dr - Ok, we can do that for you.
Mr Smith - Great! But I want to check everything right off the bat. I don't want a half picture and then have to go through this whole needle thing again if something comes up.
Dr - what do you mean?
Mr Smith - I mean I want to check the complete system; LH, FSH, Total Testosterone, Free Testosterone, Bioavailable Testosterone, SHBG, and Total Estrogen.
Dr - I've never had anyone request that before, but I suppose we could do that.
Mr Smith - thanks!
