In response to a couple of people who have IM'd recently about recommendations for Canadian on-line pharmacies; a family member who's a pharmacist gives this advice.
Make sure to choose one that's a member of the the Canadian International Pharmacy Association. There are about 30 (out of more than 1,000 outfits that CLAIM to be Canadian). Members of CIPA have to be licensed as a pharmacy in the Canadian province out of which they operate, and pharmacy licensing regulations in Canada are very strict.
Asided from CIPA membership, you should also look for the Provincial pharmacy license number on the pharmacy website. it wouldn't hurt to e-mail the Provincial regulatory authority to confirm the license (
www.pharmacists.ca has a list of the regulators).
Look for a physical address in Canada on the website, and toll free phone numbers to call from the U.S. Don't contact pharmacies that have a 900 area code.
Only deal with pharmacies that require a prescription from a licensed physician. Make sure the pharmacy requires a patient medical history including allergies.
The pharmacy should require you to sign a patient agreement to order.
Stay away from sites that spam you and send your pop-ups.
If you follow these guidelines you'll be safe.
