so my anti-steroid doctor checked my cholesterol and he said "your young and at risk for a heart attack because you do steroids". I was like "WTF?!" All i'm on now is test 1g a week and just got off dbol. Even though I stay on for long periods of time I doubt I'm at risk for a heart attack. I mean look at the guys who stay on for years and do a lot more and are fine. Everytime I go to him he brings up steroids and how bad they are, now he tells me this out of nowhere. I asked him if I should see a cardiologist and he said "No," My diet is somewhat high in cholesterol, but that's cause I'm bulking...
Do you guys have any problems with cholesterol? Have you ever had a heart attack? Know anyone who did because of gear?
yeah, i knew a guy that had a heart attack due to steroids, also look at kris dim. you gotta remember that different people are going to react different ways to juice. some guys might never have a major problem while some might have several. 1 gram of test a week is no small amount either. i have a story thats similar, when i was 20 i did finaplix over the summer and in the winter i had to get blood work done for health insureance. i got denied because my cholesterol was 275! and i was in great shape on top of that. i too was bulking, ate whole eggs, whole milk, ate as much as i possibly could and didn't care what it had in it. now a days, thats changed, i still eat big to bulk, just keep it a lot cleaner food. also, i have a cholesterol monitor i got from wal-mart to watch it during cycle. last time i checked while on 750 test e, 600 EQ, and 50 mg dbol, it was under 100, so it is possible to keep it low. just be careful bro, cuz yes you can be at serious risk of a heart attack
It's true that age and physical appearance have nothing to do with being at risk for a heart attack. Of course genetics and family history have alot to do with it also. Recently I read an ariticle that addressed people who were thin by outward appearance, but their inward appearance was that of an overweight person.
I hear your frustration with the doc though. My endocrinologist is brutal with me. She blames AAS for everything, and also told me that I have no idea what sports supplement companies put in their products, and that in fact, the very protein I use contains none other than anabolic steroids in some capacity. Talk about not ever getting a knowledgeable answer. She is clueless.
I have got to chime in here! I think the cholesterol thing has more to do with what you all are eating, more than anything else. Of course family Hx, pre exsisting conditions etc... can effect this greatly also, but barring those as reasons, even during a Bulking cycle you should not be consuming high levels of foods containing LDL (trans fats and Tri). This is what leads to blocked arteries that increase risk of stroke and heart attacks among other things. HDL levels are usually what gets seriously eaten up by AAS and these are the lipoproteins that help to protect against heart disease and strokes. Myself and, I know of several friends of mine that are career BB's and have run cycles very heavy for years at a time, (do not recco this) have always kept an eye on this. Mutiple times bloodwork and Dr visits always revealed that all of us had very low (like between 70 and 90) LDL levels due to pretty healthy diets even off season. This is pretty good for the bad cholesterol. The bad thing was that the AAS always seemed to reak havoc on the good cholesterol. Mine was never exceptionally low on the HDL side but enough for the Doc to mention it to me. All of us use supplements for clean HDL supplementation while on cycle now to ensure healthy HDL levels now. I believe this is pretty on target here, if not I am sure someone will correct me. This is what has been my experience with it. If someone is getting a total cholesterol reading of 275 over doing some Tren from the summer, I assure you it was not the juice. Must have been a combination of genetic (LP) cholesterol and a bad diet (LDL). This does not mean you cant go to Krispy Cream Donuts and eat a dozen in one sitting like I do every once in a while, just means you really have to watch the rest of the 5 or 6000 calories you consume throughout the day. Oh yeah, Prodigy, I would find a Doctor that is not hating on you! You need one you can really talk to about this stuff.

good post stormbringer, i totally agree with what you said. the main reason for my cholesterol was my diet but the lowered HDL from the tren did contribute to the higher LDL. i was pointing out to prod that cholesterol can be a risk factor for a heart attack and because i changed my diet my cholesterol fell back into a healthy range. but you still gotta be careful and watch your cholesterol levels as well BP when on
I'll ty to clean up my diet or at least add some cholesterol lowering foods. I'm pretty sure the gear is only contriubting a little. I eat a ton of read meat, eggs, milk etc... so once I start cutting that will change, add to that the cardio and I'm sure my bad cholesterol will be fine if not low.
For now I'm pretty interested in LDL lowering supps. / meds that also maybe raise HDL??
what supplements did you take to support healthy HDL while on?
I think Fish Oil is pretty good. I've gotten good results with it. Since doing something like 1000mgs daily my cholesterol on cycle is in a healthy range, particularly the HDL. A cycle for me is 300mgs/week Sust for 12 weeks. That was the last one. I'm vegetarian, but I do eat dairy -- low-fat milk and cheese.
But the fish oil seemed to help and it was fairly inexpensive.
