Damn y'all get fancy with pin disposal methods! I just reshield the needle when I am done and put it into a thick garbage bag and when it's full I chunk it into the dumpster.

Thats not exactly the safest method. I like the idea of an opaque container and thrown into a business dumpster.
I like the idea of that foam shit in there, too. You could get some of that expandable spray foam insulation used in some houses.
Since needles and syringes are NOT illegal in my state (they even give them away free at the county health center to drug users) I put my old pins AND syringes in old LARGE mouthwash bottles. You know, the see-thru kind, then drive it down to my local community health department and hand it to the nurse over the counter. They can easily see whats inside, and send it out with their other old needles to the Hazardous Waste Disposal center. AS RECOMMENDED BY LAW IN MANY STATES.
I belive the "Hazardous Materials" company burns them all in a big incinerator.
Much safer than a flimsy can in the trash. Dont you know the mexicans pick those things up and take them to the local recycling center for their 5 cents?? LOL
Wanted to see if there are any updates on this topic. I am looking to do some research on rats that could require the use of needles. How does everyone dispose of their needles?
Also, someone mentioned a legal issue? Is it illegal to purchase needles/syringes in some states? If so, where can I find a list of states where it is legal to purchase needes & syringes. And, the same question for disposal, where can I find a list of states? Thanks.
I would start by running a search on Needle Exchange Programs, then start looking at states. Many states allow this and you can just drop off your Gear needles and they dispose of them for you. They should have a list of States that do this. Start with New York or DC. I am pretty sure Philly did away with theres. But this should be a good start.
