I am getting ready to take a Drug Test some time tomorrow (wednesday). I am currently on DNP which I am not worried about. However I did take one 25mg SAN Ephedrine 25 tablet at about noon today. I also took one at 8:00 AM Monday and another at 6:00PM Monday. Now SAN's Ephedrine is not pure but comes from Ephedra Extract. However I am reading all over the net that even enhalers and psuedoephedrine cause false positives. Am I allowed to declare I am taking this "diet" product because though its banned its not a narcotic is it? Also might it be smarter to fake sickness for a day and take the test Thursday giving me a full 48 hours of clean? |

I wasn't planning of faking the urine. I meant faking that i was too ill to go to the test center tomorrow. Most things I have seen say don't worry about it too much but list some OTC things that could cause a false positive. |

Also since Ephedrine HCL is apparently widely available at convenience stores, why should I be worried? Does it just mean I'd have to fight it out? Apparently they ask nothing of you up front and if you test positive for something they call and ask about prescriptions and other stuff before reporting you to the company. |

ephedrine is a main ingredient in some meth recipes...it can show up as meth on a 5 panel street drug test....maybe not an ncaa steroid test... |

A urine drug test is the most popular and economical form of drug testing available today. This news report will delve into the heart of urine drug test screens. To start, note that there are three common types of a urine drug test: * EMIT Drug Test via Urine * Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometer Drug Test via Urine * Radio ImmunoAssay Drug Test via Urine Of paramount note is a urine drug test also has a tendency to confuse similar chemical compounds. Products that contain hemp, such as nutritional supplements or food items, could potentially cause a false positive drug test for marijuana. High doses of Ibuprofen, which is contained in Motrin, Advil and Nuprin, can test positive for marijuana drug use. Products containing Ephedra, such as ma-huang extract, has a chemical structure close to amphetamines, and can give false positive urine drug test result without the lab technician even knowing. Poppy seeds can indeed have a urine drug test positive for morphine. Cold medicines like Triaminic and Nyquil can test positive for morphine or methamphetamine. Supposedly, Valium can test positive for PCP, a hallucinogenic drug also known as "Angel Dust". Dextromethorpan can result in a false positive drug test for opiates in a urine sample. Valerian root, Kava Kava and St. Johns Wort are popular herbal supplements for relaxation that can affect a urine drug test. Other over the counter medicines including Alka-Seltzer Plus, Contac, Sinutab and Bronkaid are prone to negatively effect a urine drug test, and since their use is extremely wide-spread, the problem of a false positive drug test is clear. http://www.elitedetox.com/urine_drug_test.asp |

False positive for methamphetamine on drug tests of people using ephedra Can taking ephedra (also called ma huang) cause a "false positive" for methamphetamine on a drug test? A variety of different tests are used for drug testing. However, many of them can give a false positive result, in the sense that ephedra use will show up as drug use. (In particular, ephedra use may generate a positive finding for methamphetamine.) One active component in ephedra is ephedrine—which has pharmaceutical properties and is in the same class of compounds as many other drugs and natural stimulants. As such, it will be metabolized similarly to these other substances. Much drug testing checks for the presence of drug metabolites as a measure or indicator of ingested drug. By the time one tests blood or urine for the drug, the body has metabolized most of it, so many tests are directed towards testing for metabolites. There may also be other components in ephedra with metabolites or parent structures that are similar to drugs taken for pleasure or sports and would therefore test positive. Like other botanical products, ephedra contains scores, perhaps even hundreds of different chemical compounds. Drug tests are usually designed for ease of use and are broad-based, so that a single test would detect many different drugs. Thus, it can be difficult to differentiate between an actual drug/pharmaceutical or a natural product/supplement like ephedra. Such differentiation can usually be done by further, intensive testing that is targeted for a particular unique metabolite or residual drug itself. http://www.supplementquality.com/z_a...a_testing.html |

One link is to a company selling "detox" products, so the validity of their claims is suspect right off the bat. Ive seen "Detox" products claim they can clean everything out of you, including pot, cocaine, and so on. Its all a bunch of garbage and none of them can substantiate any of their claims. The other link offers commentary but no evidence to support the claim of false positives. Until I see some real evidence, I am going to say that the idea of ephedrine giving false positives is as much garbage as the detox products sold to prevent any positives. |
