Hey mate, I had an orchiectomy performed on my right testicle. I've still got my left intact and no, I didn't get a replacement as I'm not really bothered about the missing half. I don't recall the last time a girl told me I had hot balls, so having a prosthetic put in wouldn't really make a world of a difference.
90% of men who suffer from testicular cancer generally keep the same level of testosterone, myself on the other hand had further problems and was left with HRT.
I've had a LSP (low sperm count) for the majority of my life and had to bank sperm before my operation. The results were extremely poor as minimal counts of sperm were found in the semen.
As for erections, I was having problems post operation but it seemed to be a mental thing more than anything else and as soon as I began to develop further self confidence and self esteem, my erections got to a stage they were at pre op.
I'll tell you what though, I was living on an EXTREMELY low scale of testosterone for roughly six months and it wasn't very fun at all.
Began to feel depressed, hated myself for no reason, lost the tiny bit of muscle I had, was always fatigued, all I wanted to do was sleep, and on top of everything, I just had no sex drive, NONE, nada!
I'm stuck on some pretty intense surveillance now for the next 4 years. Tests every three months for the next two years, then every 6 months for the following two, and then one a year for the rest of my life.
Tests include X-rays, Ct-Scans, blood tests, ultrasounds and speaking with my endocrinologist and urologist.
If you have any further questions, feel free to drop me a pm.
Thanks for your interest.
