It's not nearly as simple as they make it sound, but it's not all that complex either. I'm not exactly sure when I'm going to try it yet. The way I've designed it at first will only use naked plasmid, so I can shoot IM to any particular muscle and limit the expression to that site. I can then guage the growth to see if it will be ridiculous or not. I don't want a 20% increase, you know. Using plasmid vs virus will allow me to be able to do repeat injections and adjust the doses. I'm not sure how well dispersed the expression will be. I may have to inject at a few sites within the muscle bellies to get even growth...maybe not though. Many studies using similar methods show that both IL-15 and IGF-1 expressed in skeletal muscle act on neighboring myotubes that are not expressing the genes (transgenically).
It'll be at least a month before I try it, but I'll keep you posted.
