Default Getting GYNO Sugery This Month Need Advice!!PLEASE HELP!!

Guys I am going away on vacation June 5th. I am going to be on the beach and have my shirt off etc.

If I get gyno sugery during this month will I be able to have my shirt of etc?

I heard you need to wear a vest and rest for a few weeks, is this all true?

Can someone please inform me as to what is needed to be done after sugery?

Why not just ask the doctor that would be doing the surgery?

I would say no, you will not be ready for the beach. Firstoff, you will have to wear a compression vest for several weeks. You will have very little motion in your arms for 2-3 weeks. On top of that, you do not want to go in the sun for several months after the surgery b/c the sunlight can darken your scars making them more visible permanently. I would say try to keep the sun away from your chest for this summer; give your scars time to heal. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I had gyno surgery a couple years ago, and have researched it heavily as I am aspiring to become a cosmetic plastic surgeon one day specializing in gyno reduction. One last tip, pick up some sinecch from http://www.alpinepharm.com before your surgery; it helps tremendously with swelling and recovery. Best of luck with your surgery and recovery.

Thanks for the info, I called them up and I told them my situation about my trip early june. She said If it would be fine by then, I would just need sunblock. I am going in Wed for bloodwork etc, than im guessing sugery would be the following week. Thanks for your help and I hope she was right about being able to go on the trip.

You can prolly still go on the trip, but whether or not you want to take your shirt off depends on the amount of swelling you still have at that point. I had significant swelling for 3-4 weeks and the total effects of the surgery were not seen until all the swelling had gone away - about 6-8 weeks post op. When I got mine done, my doc said stay away from sunlight for 6 months. I did as he said, and now I have very little (if any) visible scarring. What is the exact dates we are talking about? Surgery is next week as you said, when is the exact day of vacation? How many weeks between?

So you're having the surgery somewhere between 5/16 - 5/20? You will need to wear the compression vest around 10 days post op. At the most you will have 20 days post op before leaving for vacation, at the least 16. So the good news is at least you'll have your vest off by then. You should still have a good amount of swelling at this point. You will have regained enough motion in your arms/chest to return to work or go on vacation at this point, but you may still be sore, bruised and swelled up. If you're going some place warm, I doubt you'll be able to swim. I personally would keep that chest covered up. Wear a tank top. lol. At this point your incisions around your areola as well as any punctures made in the arm pit or near the bottom of the chest, will still be highly visible. Personally I would stay covered up, sunlight can darken those scares so they are made more permanent! Keep out of the sun for 6 months and you should see the scars disappear hopefully. Why risk having visible scaring on your chest?

BTW, is your doc doing incisions around the areolas and removing the glandular tissue? Or is he/she going to simply do some form of lipo???
