Default HCG - Use it or trash it?
I have some HCG that is about a year old. Been stored at room temps. Any value in using it or should I write it off and trash it?

Still in powder form...I'll have to check the exp. date...although I'm not sure that is a basis for a decision...

If it is just a little past expiration i would still use it.

As long as it's been kept at normal room temp and not reconstituted, it should still be good.

From the package insert:

DESCRIPTION:
Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), a polypeptide hormone produced by the human placenta, is composed of an alpha and a beta sub-unit. The alpha sub-unit is essentially identical to the alpha sub-units of the human pituitary gonadotropins, luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), as well as to the alpha sub-unit of human thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH). The beta sub-units of these hormones differ in amino acid sequence.

Chorionic Gonadotropin is a water soluble glycoprotein derived from human pregnancy urine. The sterile lyophilized powder is stable. When reconstituted with Bacteriostatic Water for Injection preserved with benzyl alcohol 0.9%, the solution should be refregerated and used within 30 days.

The fact that they make mention of it being "stable" tells me it should stay viable for an extended period of time.
