Default Help me feed myself

Ok guys I never thought that I would say this but I am going to start counting calories. I weigh 230 lbs and I am 20 years old. I need help on a diet with exactly what to eat how many calories. Macros all of that bullshit. My main focus right now is gaining muscle not fat so I need help with what to eat and when. One of my buddies has 20 inch arms and abs eating pizza and drinking beer twice a week I am different I need a diet to follow. My BF% is like 14 or somewhere around there so I do not need to gain more. Thank you for your help.

If you eat too may carbs the extra calories could well be stored as fat.Try cutting down on your carbs.Keep protein intake high and just eat enough to get you through to your next meal.
Eat more carbs before and after your workouts, for energy and recuperation, but cut down on carb intake during non-active periods.
Its so easy to over consumme.

Take jasthace's advice on the carbs, here based on your body weight you need to consume around 2750 to 3000 calories a day. This is depending on your activity level. I'd probably start closer to 2750 then add calories in.

Stay away from all alcohol, pizza, pop, junk food of any kind, chips, salted snacks, and any kind of sugar or candy, and fruit juice. Eat only lean quality meat, vegetables and fruits. Get your carbs from sweet potatoes, whole wheat, oatmeal, bran, and brown rice. Make sure you get plenty of rest every night and keep the workouts intense and do cardio 3-5 x a week to keep your body from adding any more fat. I hope this helps.

Thank you for your help. I do have some questions though i have been drinking a ton of skim milk do you think milk is bad or is it fine. I also seem to not be gaining any more weight but i eat a shitload of food. My buddy tells me that I won't gain fat on gear but i am calling bullshit he just has freak genetics. I have been eating a ton of hamburger, lean steak, chicken, shrimp, sweet potatoes, white rice (dont like brown) basically anything that is called food and gets in my way is dead. Why am I not putting on weight? My waist line is not going down but I am getting stronger It's weird could it be possible my muscles are just hardening.

Man don't drink to much skim milk powder, that stuff will make your guts bloat up and stick out!.Same with white rice, it will have you looking puffy and soft.If you must eat white rice, only eat it directly before and after a heavy training session, that way the calories are more likely to be partitioned into the muscle as glycogen,In stead of being stored as fat, with the accompanying insulin spike you have created.

Listen to Jas. if you are maintaining weight currently right now, then figure out EXACTLY how many cals you are taking in and add in 500cals more per day. Since you tend to hold more bf, make it an even amount of carbs and fat (200-250 cals from each more per day). After one week, gauge your progress on the scale. If it has not moved at all, then up the cals again by another 500 cals per day and see what happens. You also want to take measurements and weigh yourself correctly (same time on the same day each week, good way is every monday morning, first thing in the am when you wake up before eating or drinking anything and completely nude). Back to your measurements, if the waist goes up faster than other body parts or when you barely add weight, then look back at your macros and change things
