Default Helping Redicat in the Federal Detention Center at SeaTac

After writing in my blog about Redicat's extradition to the United States to face prosecution, quite a few people have contacted me expressing a desire to help him out.

The address at which family and friends can write is:

Ashley Vincent Livingston
Registration No. 38984-086
Federal Detention Center
P.O. Box 13900
Seattle, WA 98198-1090

Only First Class Mail is accepted at the FDC. (Items sent by Express Mail, Federal Express, and similar services are returned.) First class mail from outside the United States will be accepted. Packages can be sent but they require special advance approval from the institution.

Incoming and outgoing mail (except attorney-client mail) is read by the FDC staff.

How to send funds to Redicat:

The Federal Bureau of Prisons requires that all funds being mailed to the inmate should be sent to the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ national Lock Box at the following address:

Federal Bureau of Prisons
Ashley Vincent Livingston
Registration No. 38984-086
Post Office Box 474701
Des Moines, IA 50947-0001

A money order from a U.S. Post Office is the best type of money order to purchase. A Canadian postal money order that states “in U.S. dollars” will also be accepted.

You must put the inmate’s name and register number on the check or money order. You must write the inmate’s name as it is spelled by BOP, i.e. include their middle name if used by BOP; if their name has been misspelled by BOP you must list the name with the misspelling until the error is corrected by BOP.

You MUST NOT enclose cash, personal checks, letters, pictures or any other items in the envelope. Enclose only the allowable negotiable instrument. The national Lock Box can not forward any items enclosed with the negotiable instrument to the inmate. Items, personal in nature, must be mailed directly to the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ institution where the inmate is housed.

The person sending the funds must put his/her name and return address on the upper left hand corner of the envelope to ensure that the funds can be returned to him/her in the event that they cannot be posted to the inmate’s account.

You can also deposit money by credit or debit card to the Lock Box via Western Union. This method will put money on the inmates “books” faster than by mail but there is a hefty service charge which varies by the amount of money you are sending. The toll free number for Western Union is 800/634-3422. You will have to provide the following information to the operator:

S “city code” FBOP
S “state code” DC
S the inmates registration number (this number combined with their name is their account number).

For each Western Union Quick Collect transaction, the following information must be provided:

1) Valid Inmate Eight Digit Register Number (entered with no spaces or dashes and immediately followed by Inmate's Last Name)
2) Committed Inmate Full Name entered on Attention Line
3) Code City: FBOP, DC

Please note that the inmate's committed name and eight digit register number must be entered correctly. If the sender does not provide the correct information, the transaction cannot be completed. The Code City is always FBOP, DC.
