Default Hypertension and weight-training...

I hope you will be able to hear me out and give me some advice 'cos i don't know who to turn to...I apologise the message is kinda long but I wanted to be as specific as possible so you will be able to create a clearer picture in your head.

Is it normal for blood pressure to got up during a cycle? I've been on 500mg Test Enanthate a week (for the past and my BP can shoot up to about 165, usually at the end of the day when I feel tired (although the diastolic usually less than 80) when I first sit down and then drop to around 140ish...is this temporary and are these levels dangerous? If so, should I stop the cycle? I don't want to cause an damage to my body...

In actuality, even before my cycle, my blood pressure has been quite high for the past few months...got one of those electronic BP monitors at home and been taking multiple readings throughout the day...my readings seem to average at 140 when I take the first reading (sometimes in the high 150's but depending on the time of the day) for systolic and never above 80 for the diastolic...

I am assuming that I have hypertension 'cos everytime I go to the doctor (different docs sometimes), my reading when i first sit down can sometimes be 150 or 140. Generally speaking, the diastolic is usually 80, but on occasion 90. Could be due to white coat hypertension, cos I am a nervous type of person.

The first reading can be 140 or 150, but after 5 mins, I take the reading (after resetting the monitor and re-tightening the arm cuff) again, it drops to 130ish. I then repeat after 5 mins, it sometimes drops to 125ish...does this mean I have high blood pressure?

This is my weight-training regime -

High intensity training 5 days a week
Moderate to low reps at moderate to high intensity (Squats, Bench, etc)

Training sessions at 1 hour daily

In a worse case scenario, if in the event I do have high BP, what kind of exercises should I do and which ones to avoid, cos from what I understand, people with high BP should not train too intensely and also avoid exercise like squats and even bench press cos during heavy lifting, systemic blood pressure is increased from what is called the valsalva maneuver? I think have LVH (Left Ventricular Hypertrophy of Cardiac Muscle).

All I know, is that I think I have ventricular hypertrophy of my heart muscle after the heart specialist did an ultra scan half a year back after a steroid cycle (have been using the gear for the past decade, on and off). The LVH must have been caused by a combination of the AAS and my lifting. An ECG was done but the doc said I was ok.

I heard that one should so circuit style training at 60% of one rep max in order to avoid BP from rising too high?

Do you think my high BP is transient (how would I know if it is a temporary condition and not chronic?) and if so, what kind of exercises to do cos I am taking into consideration the long term aspect without causing damaging my health (i.e. heart or kidneys). From my understanding, pre-hypertensive or hypertensive individuals should approach weight-training with caution right? But if I adopt circuit type training, I won't be able get bigger from circuit training. How should I train, assuming I have this problem, 'cos I don't have any access to sports specialists who could give me such specific advice.

Don't know how many people out there have the same problem as me, but hope you could help...it would mean everything to me if you could help give me your advice 'cos all my doctors don't know shit and some have even told me to stop weight-training altogether!!!

Yours sincerely (Any advice will be greatly appreciated...),

Soo.

Its simple bro, If your bp is up while you are on cycle see your doc and get some meds to correct the problem. I have the same problem and monitor my bp when cycling and use meds if my bp is high. When I go off bp will drop and then I stop. Bp

AS for the various lifts you do, don,t worry if your bp goes up at that time. It will when your lifting. Whats important is that its in a normal range through out the rest of the day. Mine is generally a little high and that does not bother me much as long as its not too bad. You know what your doing and unless you want to tell your doc about your aas use its up to you to monitar and understand the readings. PM or email if you need. Bp

blood pressure goes up and down , depending on lots of factors...try taking it first thing in the morning....still in bed....resting BP, walking around, getting up from a chair, bending over...not enuff sleep....allergy meds all can affect BP

you need to test it often...always be seated for 5 minutes or so before checking....also running some arimidex will control estrogen, estrogen fucks up your electrolytes and this causes water retention and higher BP...dbol jacks my BP sky high

Dude, it's hard to say for sure (regarding my BP) cos am currently on cycle, so that may affect the readings, but in general (from previous readings), my normal BP off-cycle ranges around 130ish on the higher scale...but the diastolic is always below 80 according to my electronic machine). Have recently got hold of some Lisinopril...should I use it at a low dosage to control the BP or should I just stop my cycle and resume medication anyway. I understand that Lisinopril will not damage my kidneys in the long run? I am very concerned bout my organs!!!

well it sounds to me like yours really isnt that bad...if its dropping to 130-125/80-75 then considering that you are on ...thats not bad.....mine gets up to like 168/102 if i dont keep my estrogen down...really hard for us to give advice on this...i would maybe see a doc...i take lotrel for BP...and like i said i have to keep my estrogen low to prevent bloating

I think that you would be considered pre-hypertensive. If you know you have LVH (which is very common in athletes) ask your doc to prescribe a BP med. Ask for an ARB, like Cozaar (sp?). It has been shown to reduce glomerular scarring, since you said you were concerned about your kidneys. Hypertension is definitely very bad, but I think in your case you might be making a mountain out of a mole-hill. Docs are pretty liberal about handing out BP meds, just make an appointment and ask for one, tell him about your readings at home and that you have LVH. Why did you have an echo done in the past?

Really? Really confusing at times cos there are so many kinds of medications for hypertension out there...so, in your opinion, Cozaar would be good for my case? Will have a chat with him then...thanks!!!
