I am a big believer in the low-carb lifestyle. I believe and my personal experience tells me it is the healthiest way to eat. I eat less than 50 carbs a day. I do not avoid fat, except trans-fats. That means I do not shy away from saturated fat. I have been eating this way for 2 years and feel great. I was wondering if there were any other guys that post on this board that believe in low-carb as way of life for better health.

I eat low carb also but not as low as you. I usually pass on the potatoes, bread and sugary stuff. Except for my occasional hot fudge Sunday.
Re: I know low-carb diets are controversial, but.....
its the first week bro ... unfortunately most people give up by then ... after a week or so your body will become accustomed to the glucose levels you provide it with ... they key is not to avoid the carbs but change the source you get them from - most people dont buy into it, but Fuck hydroxycut ... and thermo lean and all that bullshit - the most powerful fat burners are vegetables ... getting your carbs from vegetables will help avoid that sluggish feeling man ....

I know sometimes I crave fruits, so I will get 2 apples 2 oranges 2 scoops of whey and that will be my lunch. It also makes your bowels move perfectly.

personally i dont know why anyone feels the need to avoid carbs. I find i am totally fatigued and drained without them, especially in my workouts.
I think id be more worried about where i get my carbs from rather than avoiding them.
I usually get most if not all of my carbs from potatoes, oats, apples and bananas mostly.
i believe carbs are neccesary for muscle repair after each workouts but i maybe wrong about that.

None of us avoid all carbs except maybe the guy who started the thread.
I avoid the bad ones as much as possible. Thats it.

I've been low-carbing for years. I even put on weight while low-carbing (cycling). I don't take in more than 150 a day.. I never mix carbs/sugars with fats..
I get my carbs from fruits (apples, pineapples, oranges, bananas), spinach, sweet potato, cow/soy milk - rarely have oats and this indian bread made from flax (8 carbs for a 12x12 wrap). In that order.. I get half my protein from powder (casein/whey or "milk protein isolate"), the rest from chicken and various fishes.. Beef once or twice a week - the leanest ground I can find - or flank steak. In fact my diet is pretty low in fat also, I think the amount needed for healthy human function is over stated... Look at how much and how little some take, I used to slam down 10g a day no matter what I ate.. Nowadays if I already have enough fat in my foods I don't bother with the fish oils.. On the other hand I don't take more than 6 on my low fat days, I try to have em all in one meal too.
What sucks is when you low carb so damn much it makes you really have to drop the calories for a cut.. So I end up bouncing in and out of diets.. I hope that now when I drop down I never have to do that again.. I can just bulk lean, and slow down the bulk and burn the fat when I feel a little plump.
