Maybe you can get away with that . . . maybe not. Just keep in mind that "we" (or, at least, I, for one) inject deep in a muscle for a number of reasons - first off, too shallow might show; don't want lumps and unsightly bumps. Secondly (and most importantly), veins run beneath the skin, over the muscle, the muscle is fed within by a network of capilaries. Believe me on this one, you do not ever want to accidently "mainline" an oil-based product. Christ, often enough, an extremely minute amount still manages to make its way too directly into the bloodstream and you can develop a persistant cough; even sometimes, given enough time and development, the capilary system can carry enough of the product straight into the lungs and you will experience a violent, coughing fit and come close to picking up the phone to dial 911 for fear of going into severe pre-congestive heart failure. This is no bullshit. Mainline "enough" (and enough isn't very much) and you will indeed experience pre-congestive heart failure before you can even complete the withdrawl of the needle. The lungs vehemetly dislike being coated with oil. Many pros and top level ams have experienced this - believe me, we do asparate, but like I said, over time that capillary system becomes more enhanced to accomodate and feed all that muscle, and shit happens. My only point is to provide food for thought and say that it simply isn't worth a gamble, anyway. Inject deep. I'd go with quads over glutes anyday, myself. I have NEVER managed to strike a nerve but I have had some scary coughing fits. Milos Sacrev is one of the most knowledgeable guys around - you should ask him.
