just got a phone call from the post office

Heres what happened....

I bought about $300 of gear, domestic. I just opened a PO box about 3 days ago to recieve the pack, I didnt expect it till next week, but it looks like he got my stuff out fast.

Anyway, i got a call from the PO today (saturday morning) saying they recieved a pack for me, from texas, express mail, and they said the PO closes today at 1230, so i can come pick it up. Should I be concerned? I have never had the PO call my house for a package, i dont know why they would do this.

Im thinking i might be good, because if he sent it yesterday, and the PO got it today, they didnt really have time to set up a bust? I would think they would hold it for a while, get everything straight, then try and bust me next week if they were gonna bust me, but i dont know how these thigns work, all i know is they said i could pick it up today on a saturday.

U think i should be worried?

Parcels or packages cannot be shipped to P.O boxes thats why they want you to come pick it up. Should not be a prob there bro. I wouldn't be worried at all.I worked for a compnay and we used to have people call in about there parcel not being shipped and its because they had a P.O box down for their shipping. No worries man go pick up your shit.

Packages and parcels CAN be sent to po boxes. Why wouldn't they? Maybe because it was sent express the postal worker thought you might need it asap and figured they would call to let you know they close early. It does seem strange to call though. Best of luck.

Really??!! Well I've used a (usps) PO box for years now and recieve all kinds of parcells. Not sure what you are refering too...cLeRks

Not sure what advice to tell you. I've received many express packs and never got a PHONE call. I don't even think they have my phone #. I always tracked (express) pack when it's there I go to USPS. They put a YELLOW card with a pickup number on it in my PO box. I then bring it to clerk and they scan Yellow card and pack. Then I leave with my package.

I believe is there was a problem then there would be a delay in delivery to USPS. Sounds like yours went right through OK. Good luck...cLeRks

if its international you will have to sign for it - if it is certified mail you will have to sign for it - those are two times I know of they will call you

thanks for the replies, so you guys think i should go pick it up? it sounded like an older lady who called me (not like an inspector or someone high ranked in the post office), so maybe im good?

If you used your real Phone number when renting the box, sounds reasonable.
My Post Office has called me a couple of times also. Both times it was to tell me I had a pack that did not fit in my box.
If you go there like you have nothing to hide, and act real friendly, they will be super nice. Most ppl are snotty to PO workers.
I always flirt with the older women. They get all giddy and shit!!!! LOL
I'd say go for it.

Find out from your source if the package was sent certified mail. Although, even if it was, they would usually just leave a note in your box.

Are there larger boxes in the PO box area? The PO box that I once used had larger boxes in the PO box area. When I received a package that was too big for my box, there would be a key in my box for one of the larger boxes.

I think it's very off that the PO called you. I recommend that you at least wait a few days before going in, although I guess it has already been a couple of days now. Are you in jail? Hope not.
